I probably play more portable than I do consoles (Presuming you're talking about 3DS/Vita not mobile), due to the reliance of the Japanese industry on portable games, it tends to have more unique/interesting games and is the only place to play some of the major Japanese franchises like monster hunter, dragon quest, persona and others.
@mistzero Don't be disappointed with games in general because the mainstream ones aren't living up to your expectations of what gaming should be. Try out indie or classic game because they're interesting, are great games or just have that spark that the big releases are missing, don't just buy something for its "newness" and being a "big deal".
@groverat: Kyriarchy allows for some interesting perspective on representation in creative mediums (if I understand the notion correctly). Especially in terms of cultural differences, which tends to be easily forgotten when mediums try to represent different viewpoints.
For example, even though I'm an Irish white male, I'd associate with an Irish female easier than a Southern US white male.
@slag: Sierra was massive in the 80s and 90s though. They had huge budgets for some games, dwarfing many others in the industry and was the arguably the first company to use a level of professionalism comparable to other mediums, such as films, regularly designing detailed sets, professional composers and using hollywood actors. It was what paved the way towards companies treating games as a professional medium and not just a niche hobby.
Looking forward to see what she does next, always kinda figured she has the best chance to be the first woman become the head of a AAA publisher someday
