Kenny was my boy in episode one. Mark was going to be my boy until... you know. All I can say going into episode 3 is FUCK KENNY!

Congrats EA, this award is fully deserved.

But there are those who will mindlessly shrug this off by "the vocal minority haters" when in fact this was the vocal majority. Full stop.

To all of the (many) idiots in here arguing for used games to be abolished: what the hell do you propose that we do with our hundreds of finished games that will never ever get played again? Am I supposed to cram them and my old systems into a closet forever? Dump my stuff in a landfill?

How dare I try to get some money back from the games I played. How dare someone else enjoy a game I played.

Publishers are falling all over themselves looking to wring a few more dollars out of us. Fair enough. But if they are only interested in their own financial well being then I don't feel bad about looking out for my financial situation.

Only in the video game industry (Tea Party excluded) do people fight for enormously wealthy corporations who clearly don't have your best interests at heart. They don't even have to work hard to make a case for themselves, there are more than enough deluded or ignorant gamers out there who will happily hand over their consumer rights and give up ownership of physical products that have been purchased.

Bravo Tidel, that was a brilliant summary of the situation that we are in regarding publishers crusade to exert more control over their games even after they have been sold.

Who cares? So long as the games continue to be fun, that should please the core market. The only people who concern themselves with fps or polygon counts or whatever are people who don't know how to truly enjoy games.

Spoken like someone who hasn't experienced the awfulness of the PS3 version of Skyrim. I'm lucky to be getting double digit framerates after an hour or so of playtime. You say I "don't

know how to truly enjoy games" but I counter that with "your standards are way, way too low".

I'm about 40 hours in the PS3 version of Skyrim and my save files are around 5.8MB so I am right up against the rumored 6MB save file zone. So far I have encounted horrendous framerate problems, the worst of which came last night when after fast travelling to some area I was jumped by a flying dragon. Trying to hit him with chain lightning while he was slowly lowering himself was an exercise in frustration. Between the 10 frames per second or so when the floating stationary dragon was breathing fire it wasn't fun. Zooming in with my slowed down bow helped to counteract this a bit but the consistent framerate drops are bad and negatively affect my experience.

I'm still going to keep playing Skyrim but the framerate drops and 2 second long delay when selecting things in menus are really putting a damper on my enjoyment for a game that excels in so many other areas. Patch this thing Bethesda, don't put out any DLC until it runs acceptably on PS3.

So these judges for GOTY played Skyrim and Skyward Sword? For how long? An hour? Did they beat those games and if not then how can they even be considered? Did Assassin's Creed: Revelations get submitted for GOTY by Ubisoft? What about Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3d Land?

Can any publisher submit their game for consideration or is it based on hype like seems to be the case for at least the two unreleased nominations? Dropping the "it was played by the judges line" doesn't cut it since it could have "been played" for 5 whole minutes. Who is to say, certainly not the judges at this time.

This whole cloud of suspicion and shady backroom deals could have been avoided by holding the awards show in early 2012 where every game in 2011 could have been given a fair shake. The show was, is and ever will be a joke to me until they try to go out of their way to at least act in a legitimate and fair manner.

No Witcher 2 in the GOTY category? Just call it the Spike Console Awards (powered by DEW!!!) instead of the Video Game Awards.

We are already sliding down the slippery slope of games ownership and still some of you guys don't have a problem with it. How far do publishers have to go for you guys to wake up and say "enough is enough"?

I loved Batman: Arkham Asylum but between hacking up the game models and handing them out as preorder "bonuses" to several retailers and now requiring online access for story missions in a singleplayer-only game, I am just going to wait until Arkham City drops in price drastically. Maybe next August or so when it gets down to $20 I'll pick it up.

I'm not going to support this type of anti-consumer behavior by paying full price anymore, no matter how much I am anticipating this game. Enough is enough.

What a totally dishonest thread title. Nowhere in that article you linked from Destructoid did Microsoft confirm a successor to the Xbox 360. In fact, even Jim Sterling put quotation marks around the word "confirm", as if to highlight the fact that it isn't confirmed. People who work for Microsoft putting things in their resumes is in no way, shape or form a confirmation by their current employer of a next generation console and to claim otherwise is foolish.

Are Microsoft probably working on a next gen Xbox? Absolutely. Has it been confirmed at this time? Absolutely not.

If gaming magazines and websites think exclusive reviews are legit and not shady at all then why don't they ever disclose the conditions of said deal? Publishers aren't letting outlets post early reviews ahead of their competition unless some form of currency is being exchanged (more coverage, guaranteed positive coverage, prominent ad placement etc.) in order to "pay" those morally-bankrupt outlets for assumed greater hits from visitors by posting a review before anyone else.

When any website or magazine loudly announces EXCLUSIVE I just laugh at how naive they are because that is the equivalent of shouting WE HAVE COMPROMISED OUR INTEGRITY FOR MORE TRAFFIC!!

Edit: The guy who wrote the 10/10 review that the OP is talking about admitted that he didn't even finish the damn game!!! How the hell can you give out a perfect score yet not experience the ending? What a crock of sh*t review.
