PAX Prime 2010 Video Highlights - The Show Floor

And the final group of videos is from the expo hall.  Clearly I can't compete with Vinny and Drew's montage, but here's a solid twenty minutes of simply wandering back and forth down each aisle of the entire expo hall.  You can get a sense of how large the show has become.  Oh... and there's some Mortal Kombat as well.

This video got cut short because I got called to the front of the line to play.

Don't.  Stop.  At.  Mortal.  Kombat.  Must.  Keep.  Moving.

PAX Prime 2010 Video Highlights - The Omegathon

I don't actually make an effort to see anything other than the final round of the Omegathon since it's basically a closing ceremony of the show.  But Round 4 is usually the opening act of the Saturday night concert, so I generally see that round too.  I filmed the second half of Round 4, where the "Telekinetic Sweaters" defeated "Omegadeth" in Rock Band 3 by performing Foreigner's "Cold as Ice."

It's ancient.  It's turn-based.  It consists of resource gathering.  What could the final game possibly be?

  Precision skills required!

As is tradition, after the final round, Mike and Jerry compete against each other to close out the show.

PAX Prime 2010 Video Highlights - Saturday Night Concerts

You may not even be aware that PAX offers concerts, but it does!  On Friday and Saturday night there are several hours of music in the main theater, which was at Benaroya Hall this year.  The hall was several blocks down the street, but being a symphony hall, the acoustics were miles ahead of the cement warehouse that was previously the main theater in the convention center.   If you've never heard MC Frontalot, Paul & Storm, or Jonathan Coulton... shame on you.  And if you ever go to PAX, don't miss out on this.

About two thirds of the way into this song it suddenly turns into a Double Rainbow tribute.  Don't miss this!

The sea of lights created by DS's, PSP's, and cell phones is always a cool moment.

Featuring none of that the Wil Wheaton

  Part 2.

The zombies in this song are a bit too good at singing.

Hide the kids.  This one's a bit NSFW.

PAX Prime 2010 Video Highlights - Queue Room & Freeplay

So I'm a week late on posting these here, but I've been pretty busy.  We flew back from Seattle to Georgia on virtually no sleep last Monday, then I had to work two 9.5 hour days Tue/Wed.  Then I got up early to drive 5 hours to Panama City Beach for my sister's wedding.  Spending some time with family I don't get to see very often can be pretty fun.  Spending time with someone else's family I don't know, eh...not so much.  So, Saturday morning it was another five hour drive back to the hell hole known as Macon, GA.  And here, a week late, I present to you a series of videos I poorly shot using my iPhone 4 at PAX 2010.

So not to overload one page with a ton of video, I'm going to split these up.  So here's some general PAX experience videos to start out.

PAX Prime 2010: Who's Going?

So, my badge just came in the mail today and it hit me that PAX 2010 is only two weeks away.  I ran into a few Giant Bomb users at PAX East, but I'm curious to see who's headed to Seattle this year.  What panels are you planning on going to (other than Giant Bomb's)?  What booth at the expo hall are you running for first?

Here's the panel schedule...  http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/schedule.php

And here's the Expo Hall map.  It's massive this year...  http://www.paxsite.com/paxprime/expohallmap.pdf

For me, I'm probably running to either Rock Band 3 or Mortal Kombat first.  Both are pretty close to where the queue room feeds into the expo hall.  And for panels, I'm currently looking at Mega64, Weekend Confirmed, and Feedback Live.  I gotta find some weird ones to go to.  Seems like an overabundance of community manager and journalism panels this year.

 Shit just got real, son!

My Collection v2

So, it took a couple weeks, but I finally got all my new furniture delivered.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I had to rearrange a bunch of stuff and of course there's the new TV I got a couple months ago.  So, yeah, that's what 700+ games looks like I guess.  The only stuff in storage are the older consoles and probably 5 printer paper boxes full of accessories and demo discs.

And, oh yeah... 20th blog post!

I'm Terrible

at Street Fighter.  Honestly, I'm not sure why I keep buying fighting games other than Tekken and Mortal Kombat.  I'm just really bad.  For the most part though, I enjoy playing it.  I'm not expecting to be good, nor am I expecting to be able to compete online.  I guess I just like the challenge even though it can get pretty frustrating sometimes.

Anyone else have any games that they really like, but completely suck at?

No Super Street Fighter IV for Me Tonight

Well, I'd planned on playing it, but I log on to the site tonight and you guys have over 200 things in the wiki queue.  I can't NOT work on that you know.  So, I've been catching up on podcasts, Endurance Runs, and House while I trudge through these things.  There's some good stuff going up on the site tonight.  But there's also been half a dozen plagiarists slowing me down.  So maybe I'll get onto SSF4 tomorrow.

And by the way, I mentioned the other day about Amazon being awesome.  Today I got my email about my $10 bonus credit for buying SSF4.  I immediately used it on Dragon Age Awakenings.  It'll be at my apartment Thursday.  Total cost?  $18.99

Monday Night Wars 2.0

I'm assuming we have at least a few wrestling fans around here.  Sure, it's not near as entertaining as it was a decade ago, but I still watch it.  And for the last couple months, we've had a rebirth of the Monday Night Wars that made wrestling so great in the mid-to-late 90's.  So far though, it's not really living up to the hype.  TNA isn't getting anywhere near the ratings WWE is, and I don't think anyone expected them to do so.  Personally, I'm not completely sure I like the Hogan-ized TNA, but it's at least better than what TNA was the last year or so.  There was a time (about 3-4 years ago) that TNA was incredible, but thanks in part to Vince Russo, it had declined pretty far.  How many god damn "_____ on a Pole" matches can you have?

Anyway, thankfully we have DVR's now.  I remember being in highschool with two TV's set up in my room with a cable splitter, often with a group of friends, all of us trying to watch both shows simultaneously.  It sounds ridiculous.  And it was.  But it was pretty damn fun and made a lot of great memories.

Tonight is the WWE Draft, which is always interesting, as ever since the brand extension, the roster has been split.  There have been periods where the "exclusivity" of particular wrestlers to RAW, SmackDown, or ECW has been loosely defined, but who is on what show is pretty important to what storylines are available.  I was actually at the draft episode last year in Atlanta.

So far it's still early, but we've had new tag team champions crowned.  Kelly Kelly has been drafted to SmackDown.  And just a moment ago, The Big Show got drafted to SmackDown.  I think Show gets drafted every year.  Or at least it seems that way.

So, anyone else got any opinions on the current state of wrestling?
