"Hardcore pc gamers are a relatively small audience in the gaming spectrum, made half the size due to the fact a massive percentage are likely to be using torrents, and an equally massive percentage exclusively play MMO's or valve shooters.First off Hardcore gamers spend more than casuals on gaming so being smaller in numbers is irrelevant.
There are to many developers quiting exclusive development, or any development on the pc pointing to pirracy, for me not to believe its a factor, aswell as the evidence seen with my own eyes.
But it obviously makes you feel less guilty about your own piracy to believe its not a factor."
Secondly people make up most of these giant numbers. Crytek was saying Crysis was pirated 8 times to each 1 sale. So he thinks if there was no piracy the game would have sold 27 million? Bullshit.
You have to take in factors. For example a torrent for Crysis has 500,000 downloads. How many were testing to see if it ran ok? How many had no intendtion of buying it and was an impluse download to see the pretty graphics? How many downloaded it JUST for a benchmark tool? How many downloaded it because they didn't feel it was worth the money and wouldn't have bought it id they could?
Yeah some pirates download games which they want and would have bought if they couldn't download it but honestly that would be maybe 60,000 of those 500,000 and 60,000 is not that big next to 3 million retail sales.
