Despite what everybody in my graphic design department at college tells me, you don't have to have a Mac to get into Photoshop. The software is exactly the same on both platforms. If you want to try out Photoshop for a little bit, Adobe gives away 30 day free trials like they're candy. Also, don't buy Photoshop Elements if you plan on eventually getting regular Photoshop (Elements uses a different save file format that doesn't play very well with regular Photoshop). For the most part, I just learned how to use Photoshop by just taking pictures of friends/myself and doing stupid things to them. You also can learn a lot from Adobe's how-to videos.

From being at college for a year and a half now, I've discovered that the only people that need extended warranties on devices are people that are careless. Don't take your laptop anywhere where there is a chance of it getting damaged. If you're going to buy a smartphone, put it in a durable case or take really good care of it. Obviously, there are exceptions to this (My roommate was carrying his laptop and somebody threw a nerf ball at him, knocked it out of his hands and cracked the screen on the ground.), but for the most part, only buy extended warranties if you're completely careless with expensive things.

I personally am really anal about all of my electronics, and therefore almost never get extended warranties. I think the last warranty I got was on my DS Phat in 2005. Granted, I was only 12 and didn't know any better.

Metric- Synthetica

Muse- The 2nd Law

The Hives- Lex Hives

Passion Pit- Gossamer

Also, a question to Metric fans- How do I get a hold of the Synthetica Reflections? I can listen to them on Spotify, but I can't find anywhere to purchase them.

@wrecks: Thanks for posting that link, though. Although my third movie rule is out the window, I found a good amount of space sequels in series with more than 3 entries. To anyone that cares, the notable ones I discovered are Space Buddies (Air Bud), The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley: The Case of the U.S. Space Camp Mission, Muppets From Space, Yogi Bear and the Invasion of the Space Bears and Space Jam (There were a ton of Looney Tunes movies before it).

Portal (I'm prophesising it now).

Ok, now that one would actually make sense!

@superfoot: Yeah, maybe it takes more than just 2 before they resort to space. Maybe I just thought that the High School Musical franchise was out of ideas at 2 when I predicted HSM 3 would be in space (what originally started this argument with my sister a few years ago when HSM 2 came out).

I have recently come up with a theory about bad media (mostly movies and games) where the first part sells well/is well received. Because the first one did so well, they then make a sequel, but it's not as good as the first. In an attempt to recapture the audience for a third part, they decide to shake things up and have it set in space, with unintentionally funny results. I know this trope exists, but I'm having trouble remembering good examples of this (my sister thinks my theory is BS and I want to prove her wrong). The only examples I could come up with off the top of my head are Saint's Row: The Third (I realize that Gangstas in Space is making fun of movies that do this) and The Brave Little Toaster franchise. If anyone can give me good examples of unplanned trilogies where the third installment is set in space, I would be greatly appreciative.

I saw this video of a rugby team doing a haka chant before the game to intimidate the other team. It's amazing.

I guess having a haka at your funeral would be pretty cool, too.

I got my Nexus 7 a month ago and I'm loving it. I feel like rooting it is basically a requirement to make the most of it, though. By rooting it, you can mount any usb storage device to it with the right $2 adapter. So instead of filling up the internal storage with lots of video, you can just stream them off an external HDD or copy them over to the Nexus 7. By rooting it, you can also use your PS3 controller over bluetooth as a game controller. This making emulation significantly better on the device and even more viable (for some games) than emulating on a PC. If you use Chrome on your computer/phone, Chrome on the Nexus 7 is great due to bookmark and web page syncing. I may just be more of an Android guy than an iOS guy, but I would say that if you want to do any large scale customization to your tablet, then get the Nexus 7.
