So Activision just saved me 60 bucks.

( How do i post a blog to a specific forum?)

Im not buying MW2 for PC, and if I do it will be several months after release when its cheaper. They cut dedicated server support and mods from the game so they could make it like a console game. Jeff is right it is a console port, but so was 4, and most could argue so was WAW and 2, but they both had server browsers. And yea, it still has that great multiplayer but half my time in call of duty games has been spent on mod servers.

They have no reason to cut support like that, they are lazy, does anyone feel like their experience playing call of duty on a console has been hurt by PC players getting some special stuff? Because thats their excuse for making all versions equal. Robert Bowling better fucking explain himself... I hoped IW was better than this. I never thought consoles would make PC games worse, but they have.

Developers feel the need to set the bar as low as possible and make it like a console game, when they could actually improve it and make a better game overall. But who am I kidding, developers aren't about making GOOD games anymore.

And yea, sorry if this doesnt make any sense, im just pissed.

Jesus, it's not fucking hard to figure out by yourself which server might suit you best. Matchmaking is so random it's ridiculous. Ever had those 13 year olds yelling 'nigger' at every occasion? Yeah, that's matchmaking superiority. "

Yeah, I would download the community patch and then go play some goddamn MP with dedicated servers where I don't have to worry about ping.

Yer fuck them, Just wait for counterstrike 3 :D
I still play source lol, COD is a great game but any n00b can just run and gun and get to the top. Notice how every single person boasts how they are always in the top three; COD is the minor leagues.

This comment would've been a big joke two years ago.  I think the worst part about anti-piracy is that, for PC, there's no such thing. It's just 'piracy-disruptive', not actually preventing piracy. The hackers/crackers always seem to find a way to find the hidden code lines, or even build a way to get around DRM.It's really bad that the piracy issue is making games worse for people who actually pay. Eventually, some game will run better on a pirated copy than a bought one... and that'll be a sad day for the games industry. "
Pirates are dicks, i actually threatened to pirate it myself when i heard this on some topic or another, but that was just me being angry and stupid. Pirating needs to stop, but if you search Call of Duty on some torrent site, its sad how many files there are of it.

I'm afraid I've gotta agree.  I understand that not having the option in and itself for dedicated servers and modding seems sacrilage on the PC, but does this REALLY have any bearing on the quality of the game? Full disclosure, I have and likely always will be a console gamer.  I don't see the appeal in being able to essentially "break" games and do what you will with them.  Again, I'm not saying I don't understand why people are mad, just that I don't understand why its become such a furious boycott. First Left 4 Dead 2, and now this? "

left 4 dead 2 was a stupid boycott, and i dont plan on signing any petitions on this and getting all nerdraged like they did, but the lack of good multiplayer makes this game not worth any immediate investment. I dont want to pay for a game with less content in the multiplayer, the singleplayer will be a ton of fun, once, and then i'll be bored. Multiplayer is what keeps me going, and finding a good server for multiplayer is key. You know how on xbox live (Or PSN) you get a group of guys in a game that are just idiots? Or a group of guys who are awesome and fun to have around, but then you end the game and forget all about them? Servers let you find a good group of guys, that are fun to talk to and play the game with, who don't call noob every time someone shoots a p90, and be able to join up with them whenever you want. Yes, matchmaking makes playing with friends a bit easier (You dont have to type in IPs) but I dont always have a bunch of friends who want to play Call of Duty (Most of my friends play on console anyways, but i digress.)

Also, mod maps are a ton of fun to explore, just to see what crazy things people have done, my favorite multiplayer in any game ever, was a COD2 custom map server, the people here were great, and I still go back sometimes.

Wow, this is one Hella long response, I hope it makes my point.

It is sad, but remember it is just one game in a sea of total awesome that is PC gaming. It is also nice to see developers like DICE, Gearbox, and Capcom still supporting the PC as a unique platform, so all is not lost. Just Activision and IW.

Have to admit that I'm reconsidering, there are other games worthy of my time this year. I have always loved the Call of Duty series, after all it started on PC. Never really liked playing them on console and I hated the multiplayer on the console version, never felt right to me. But all this mess as made me wonder if purchasing is the right thing. That and the fact that Modern Warfare 2 just isn't exciting me right now for some reason.

I am in the boat of considering canceling my preorder, but it's for the 360 edition. I'm sure it'll still be a fun game regardless, but I do play PC games and I have to stand for my PC gaming brethren even if I don't play PC games as much as I used to.

I get the feeling this game might turn into another spore. Angry PC gamers ruin Amazon's rating and pirate the game. Ill still be buying it out of some kind of false hope they will replace dedicated servers.

The Singleplayer will be over in under 10 hours, i'll be amazed if it even lasts 5, co-op will require matchmaking which is my whole issue with it, multiplayer is what i enjoy in COD.

It's much worse for the internation community.  People living inside the US have never had to put up with the extreme lag problem that international gamers have been lumped with due to the ever growing populatrity of match making among developers.  You think 80 ping is bad, try 500.  I ditched COD4 on 360 due to its horrible online for Australian players and went to the PC version, now MW2 will be just as unplayble on that platform.

Of course nobody seems to give a shit about gamers living outside of North America, most dev's dont even care to know if we exist.

Damn  I hate matchmaking.

Because now it's a cash cow & they don't have to care about making sure everybody is happy with the game to make money. "
they shouldnt "cater to their roots", they should create the best online experience possible.
and that would be to allow dedicated servers.

Well, this game just dropped from my must buy list. Single player is all well and good but most of my time spent with CoD4 was online. My experience with matchmaking on consoles has generally been pretty crap being in Australia.

dang that really sucks. this is why PC gaming is dieing, it's because companies don't care to much about PC gaming. they make it just like the console. i just think that they should keep the dedicated servers as i hate playing cod and the game stops because of the host ending the game.

why take out mod support. i just think that mods are the one thing that is great about PC gaming. there are always ways to make a game play longer with mods.

Yea, the single player will be alot of fun, but i played call of duty on PC because of all the advantages in multiplayer, and they've just ruined that. I can watch videos on youtube to find out how they attack the capital, thats all i really care for in singleplayer.

You know, I thought that it was pretty tricky what Blizzard was doing with the whole Battle.net merge to prevent the selling of accounts.  However, that pales in comparison to something like taking away dedicated servers.

I'm sure the game and how it plays is gonna be just great.  That doesn't mean I want to support a company that makes a really great game and then rips apart everything that made the PC versions of Call of Duty a worthwhile endeavor.  =  /

My wish list for October though November was Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, and originally Borderlands & MW2 but spending $200+ on games this season just seemed a bit excessive, one had to go and it was Borderlands, obviously MW2 is a no brainier.  That was till IW shocked the pc community by taking out dedicated servers + a bunch of other shit I don't really care that much about out of MW2 PC version.  Well you know what company treats its pc users right, infact treats its pc users better then console users(no offense console users), Gearbox Software LLC Borderlands is the now obvious choice instead of MW2 not only because it's a great game but I rather support a company that cares for my preferred gaming platform, and too spite IW.

Yeah, because playing with lag is so much fun.  I just found out about this lack of dedicated servers so I too am no longer buying it.  I was gonna upgrade my computer for it. I had a set of servers I always played on for COD4 that were fantastic.  I had pings of between 10-30 (crazy low, but they were really close by), I got to know other people who played the servers a lot, and I didn't have to worry about losing my connection because the host quit.  NOT having dedicated servers is one of the things that stops me from playing console games online.  Well, that and the whiny twelve year olds. "
It's not like consoles are a slideshow.

@Red: The question is, "Why is IW changing it now?" They've used the standard dedicated servers with server browsers model since the original Call of Duty. There is little to complain about the current system and now that IW is planning on integrating a system that revolves around them as the central authority, what will become of gaming organizations who rely on dedicated servers? I just finished playing CoD4 for PC in a server that I've been exclusively going to for the past few weeks. I like the server because it only plays Broadcast, its a 40-slot server, has nice rules with non-abusive admins and competent players, some of which are players I play with frequently. A matchmaking service like the one fourzerotwo is talking about probably won't allow the hosting of servers that play specific playlists all the time, won't have the regulars that players will know and most likely the admin could be anybody. A game could be good but when you're changing the foundation of how people engage in what is MW2's strongest component, multiplayer, then it's not outrageous for someone to say that they won't purchase the game, especially when CoD4 is a decent substitute.

I was an avid Cod 2 player and pc and loved the mod community's maps and changes to the game. But I enjoyed cod4 more in the console simply because I think they have decided(especially with the new bundle) that this is a console franchise

So what if it's a 360 game? Who cares? It's going to be a pretty damn good game, even if it is just a 360 game.

I've seen tons of rants about this topic. Most of them not persuasive enough to drop my pre-order. Tomorrow, I am. And I'm going to put it on Mass Effect 2 or BF: BC2.

This is how they are going to probably charge for map packs on the PC, and not give them away like they have been. Greedy Activision !

I'm just glad see's what we want when they make Borderlands. They even said they're adding more stuff into the PC version. But, this is about MW2. And Activision knows that PC's are all about mods. Stupid CEO it's all his fault.
