@Pinworm45: Weird, I had the same thing happen to me. I assumed it was just EA somehow deciding to transfer my Steam copy of Hot Pursuit to Origin, but it seems a bit less likely if the same thing happened to you, when you pre-ordered.
Have you played Hot Pursuit? (Specifically, logging in to Auto-log with your EA-login?)
@Phatmac: *Shrug* Personally, I'd prefer have an open publisher-agnostic platform.
Of course, I'm deeply bought into Steam, so I favor that platform.
End of the day, though - I'd have been much more pro-Origin if not for 2 reasons:
a) The bullshit of "we want a closer relationship to our customers" and as an excuse to have Origin exclusive games. I also understand that if they didn't make Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 and Syndicate Origin-exclusives, the platform would not have gained any traction.
But I don't think that's a good excuse to force me into using an inferior platform (also, I realize I could just opt out of playing the games - but why would I rob myself of excellent games?) that it's owners are comparing to Steam at it's launch.
What would be really cool? If Valve games were on Origin and all EA games were on Steam (with full Steamworks integration). Also if Games for Windows Live just went away - because regardless how not-great Origin is, GFWL is an atrocity that has not improved in years.
b) Origin Systems Inc was awesome. EA did bad things to that company. I hate that they are using the name. But yeah, I also realize that it's a good name if you don't make the connection, and as EA owns the trademark, it was cheap to use. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
