Need to lay off the Steam purchases

Over this Christmas my wife's checking credit card # was stolen and while we only had one purchase made of $300 on it before it was caught it still sucked being the holidays and all. So this morning when I got a call from my credit card company to verify some possible fraudulent purchases I started to freak even before the call. Relieved to find out that my Steam purchases are what triggered the alert. I've bought stuff before but this last sale I purchased more than usual I guess. Don't get me wrong since my experience this Christmas I would like them to be more proactive.  Wonder if anyone else has had this happen.

Bought three games over three separate days. Maybe that was the trigger for it?

It's not worth it to purchase more than 2 games at a time. You'll never really get around to playing all of them and sooner or later you'll forget about most of your purchases. That's assuming you have a normal daily life that prohibits you from playing more than 2 games a day.

No such thing as prepaid Steam space-money. Goes directly to credit card or paypal.

I have yet to play more than an hour of about half of those games. "
That's the beauty of their mad genius. So many games that when you see them for $5-$10 you can't help but think to yourself "Well I don't want to play it now, but some day I will be bored and want to pass the time so I would be crazy to pass it up for now! Plus it's not going to be on sale the next time I want to play it."

Sadly though they need to start getting a bigger library of games. In a year or two there aren't going to be so many games to throw out there for $5-$10 a pop. By that point all the games we have been buying over the last year or so will probably just be included for free with every new Steam account. lol

I never spend too much at once per Steam sale. I usually keep it below ten dollars. However, ten bucks here and ten bucks there adds up eventually.

I managed to stay around $50 this time around. Pretty much just cleaned up all the games that I wanted to buy the last few sales but put off for others. Have been let down by most of them so far. That god dam commando's pack is a scam since all but the 3rd game won't even run on newer OS. Still though, it was like $2 or something so I guess I can't complain too much.

Isn't much left in the steam store that I want that I don't own now. I'm hoping for the Batman game to go on sale for $10-$15 but that's about it.

@mrnivek: Yep, happened last Thanksgiving. My bank called me, asking if I had bought anything from "Valve Corporation" for so-and-so dollars. I just laughed and sighed, telling her I had in-fact spent that much money. In hind-sight, I have yet to play more than an hour of about half of those games.
