This truly is the year the world ends, since it can't possibly get any worse than this.

I saw the reviews for Okami when it first came out and thought "it looks ok, I suppose". Eventually I bought it on a whim, and it blew me away. I've played games that have spanned thirty hours or more, but this game had so many stand-out moments that it actually felt like thirty hours in all the right ways. I was literally lost for words by the time the credits rolled.

I wouldn't lose any respect for GB if they covered E3, since it's a really important event for journalists to cover. However, I'm stating it here right now that I think them boycotting it is so unlikely (but very ballsy if they did) that if they did boycott it I'd sign up as a paid member without second thought.

I'm happy as long as Naughty Dog don't get pressured into making the multiplayer aspect more like Uncharted 2. It was the strangest feeling when I came back to U2 after a few months of playing other games. At first I thought I was just rusty, but then I found out that since I'd played it Naughty Dog had changed a bunch of the core values (health, speed, etc) making it feel ... different. I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, but the end result was pretty prevalent. Firefights were over before they started, there was never a back-and-forth struggle, and grenades were king.

I'm fine with them listening to the community and making improvements, as long as they keep the core game intact.

I'll be playing co-op as Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. It will be like the Rush Hour sequel we all secretly dream of in our hearts.

I'll be playing co-op as Gabe Newell and Uncle Phil. The ability to do so automatically makes this game worth the money.

Anything above a scale of ten just seems silly to me. What is the difference between 88/100 and 89/100? I wasn't aware you could turn an opinion into such a precise number.

You know what? Rockstar can keep their super serious grey and gloom everything-is-fucked theme going in this one. I don't care. All on one condition, of course:

They keep it isolated to the singleplayer.

That's it. Let them have their serious story, as long as when I join a Free Roam game I can run over to a Jetpack and zip about. Oh, also, when I die I'd like to be able to choose (at least roughly) where I spawn, since appearing at the opposite side of the map from my friends when the game decides to stop spawning cars is inconvenient to say the least. So that's my proposal. Rockstar gets to keep serious, but the moment I go online I better be entering Hilarious Crazy Town or I'll be sorely disappointed.

One particular part of the Eurogamer review stands out to me:

It is a majestic tribute to cinema, a movie game in the literal sense, and your enjoyment will be in precise step with your appreciation of that objective - and whether or not you believe it to be Drake's great deception, or Drake's great delight.

I don't mind this review because frankly this is spot on. If you hate linearity you'll probably hate Uncharted's single-player. I still think he doesn't quite give the multiplayer enough credit, though. The buddy system (which I especially love), the little takes on killstreaks and perks that are both useful but not game-directing like those from Call of Duty, the balance in terms of both the power and availability of weapons. It adds an incredible amount of replayability.
