I really hope they confirm it, it's such a deliciously devious thing to do. One thing that concerns me, though: in Demon's Souls you could only play with people of a similar level, so how are players being invaded by guys of levels like 140? Are they also that insanely leveled-up, or is the multiplayer level-lock gone in Dark Souls?
Voice chat with random people in-game? No thank you.
The option to talk to friends via party chat, even if it's restricted to friends not playing Dark Souls? I don't see any problem with this.
I think maybe they've gone a little overboard, but it's not that big a deal. It's a shame, though, because there were times playing Demon's Souls where I wished I could just talk to a friend or two while I was waiting to get summoned or what have you. People determined enough will just use Skype or a similar application, anyway, so it all seems a little futile from my perspective.
