I wouldn't look at it as a slight towards NMH2.  It was just a good year for Wii games.  They also didn't mention Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, or or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

I think Red Steel is the most improved franchise.

Because Red Steel was pretty awful and Red Steel 2 is actually very good.   That's not me exaggerating either, the first game was literally terrible.  The second game was fantastic.  The only problem is that once you're finished playing Red Steel 2, there's not really anything to go back for.

" Man, why can't every single game be totally fucking free? I don't have a job, and spending a whole 3 bucks a map is WAY too expensive for my income level of 0 dollars. I could just as well use that to go see Yogi Bear in 3D NO LESS. Or perhaps buy dinner for 2 at McDonalds or a couple drinks at a bar and get nice and liquored up. Maybe some quick picks and a dime bag.  The point is, shut up, get off your high horse, and don't buy it if you think it isn't worth it. Do you really think 15 bucks is a lot of money? Gamers, man, oy vey, can we bitch. "
15 bucks is a lot of money for 5 maps, yes.  Especially considering the fact that you can buy full games for less than that, which will give you way more entertainment value.

Go to  http://store.steampowered.com/ and then tell me that 15 bucks isn't a lot to pay for just a map pack.

This is ridiculous.

It's like saying Microsoft and Sony should stop making consoles because the hardware is inferior to that on PCs, and therefore you can't make the same kinds of awesome games you can on PC, etc. and so forth.

aka it's dumb.

Incidentally, you can totally make the same kinds of games on Wii that you can on the PS3 and 360, because the games we're getting on those consoles THIS gen are the same kinds we got on consoles LAST gen, they just look better.  If any console brought new gameplay to the table this gen, it was the Wii.  Which is why we have Sony and Microsoft aping Nintendo's advancements yet again.

The LostWinds games are much more like Metroid games than Zelda.

This is why you don't use Games for Windows Live on your PC games.  They weren't going to release the patch because they didn't think it would pass Microsoft certification.  Why ON EARTH would you intentionally limit yourself with Microsoft's nonsense about certification for patches when the PC is an open platform?  It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  If not for GFWL, you could release a patch whenever you want.  Heck, if you use Steamworks, you can push any updates and small/large bugfixes out to your players with no trouble at all, automatically.   Stop ruining PC gaming, Microsoft.

So they're basically copying the Lord of the Rings/DDO model, right down to the chart.   I don't think we're talking about the same quality as LOTRO, though.  Cryptic lost a lot of credibility with me after the Star Trek Online launch.

Incidentally, LOTRO was doing just fine before it went F2P.  Of course, nobody pulls WoW-level numbers, but the game was successful.  Turbine made Dungeons and Dragons Online F2P with a microtransaction store, and it did something ridiculous like quadruple their profits on the game.  So they did the same with Lord of the Rings.

Pretty self explanatory topic, I guess.  It's pretty easy to make your Wii import-friendly, and we all have times where we don't want to wait for an official release for a certain game in our region (assuming it ever happens at all).

For example, if you live in North America, there's no official release for things like Fatal Frame 4, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Tales of Graces,  or Another Code R (a sequel to Trace Memory from the DS).  Lost in Shadow is, for some odd reason, not coming out in NA until January, even though it's already out in Europe as A Shadow's Tale.   Not sure if I want to wait.

As for me, I've imported Disaster: Day of Crisis and New Play Control! Pikmin 2 so far.  Haven't played NPC Pikmin 2 yet, but I'm kind of glad I picked up Disaster.  It's a solid game that uses the Wii controls well.  Combat is basically Time Crisis-style cover-based shooting with upgradeable/purchaseable weapons.  You'll spend a lot of time running through streets in various disaster areas rescuing people and escaping death by way of brief minigames/QTEs.  You'll also occasionally have a driving mission where you're escaping pursuers or trying to get somewhere by a certain time or outrunning something very very bad.

Has anybody else taken the import plunge?

Bought the yearly subscription.

If I had to choose today, I wouldn't renew.  Hoping they add some more member exclusive content/perks.
