Is it just me or is this console cycle defined by developers really taking lessons from previous games to heart? Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I really am shocked and impressed most of the time just how much the developers fix/improve in the sequels over the originals. New engine seems like a drastic, yet much needed, step in the right direction, although I am surprised they would make two engines in one generation. Surely, they won't be using the same one in the new console generation, will they?
Wow. This is exactly what I wanted out of a music game. And I was so ready to discount the rhythm game genre entirely, but now it looks like I might have to get this. Just for the pro mode.
or how about just half life 3. do y'all really want another source engine game? "
This. If Episode 3 was revealed to be yet another 4-6 hour minisode using the name and technology from a 6 year old game, I would be rather disappointed. Just make a full fledged Half Life 3 at this point with the successor to the Source engine. Oh, and this press release was pretty much the best thing ever. "
I disagree. Source engine games still look beautiful, and all the enhancements they've made to it over the years have certainly made it age more gracefully than many other game engines. They've invested a lot into source engine, and I think it diserves the proper send-off that was planned with episode 3. Afterall, id rather them just make the damn game with the existing tech--it takes them long enough this way, rather thwan wait for them to also make new engines.
@sodiumCyclops: No guides, I practice Transcendental Meditation, which you need to go to a trained teacher for. Look it up, there's a lot of interesting research going on on the effects of Transcendental Meditation (TM).
