Welcome to everyone checking in!

I only really started lurking GAF in the last couple of months. I think it's greatest strength is how quickly it moves There are new posts every minute. It's like rolling news but for games. It can be weirdly addictive.

I won't go back until the owner is gone though. There are other places to go. Like here at giant bomb dot com.

Seeing the number of likes on Abby's pinned tweet slowly rise has been my favourite thing this year.

There's a launch trailer now:

@sackmanjones I'm not certain about the review embargo but what I've seen mentioned on a few other forums that it's tomorrow. Either way plenty of outlets have had copies for the last few days, which is different to the stated policy of not sending stuff out until release day.

@soulcake said:

"I never asked for this" Did people really like the first one ? I was never into Horror games but i like the white vinyl / paint look there going for.

People did like the first one! It's easy to think otherwise given the rough launch the first game had but it seems to have developed somewhat of a cult following since then.

This Friday 13th will see the launch of The Evil Within 2 (known is Japan as Psycho Break 2). Review copies were supposedly sent out in the last couple of days and the review embargo should be up tomorrow, October 12th. Over the last day streamers have been able to show the first 6 chapters of the game too.

Personally I'm getting this game launch day and I'm excited to play it. I didn't play the original The Evil Within until earlier this year but I'm glad I did. It's a weird game but I enjoyed it and am interested to see what they do with a sequel. I haven't watched any of the streams (trying not to spoil myself too much) but what I have seen in trailers looks promising. Plus the cover art is awesome:

Anyone else looking forward to this? I'm going to go dimmed lights and headphones for it. I can't wait.

I'm currently on my third 100+ hour playthrough of Fallout 4.

Also A Link to the Past. That's the main game from the past that I will still revisit.

@gunslingerpanda: It might not be gambling in whatever strict sense you are thinking of but it's still spending real world money on something where the reward is based on chance . That sounds enough like one general use of the word gambling to not throw out the whole discussion.

What in particular about the term gambling makes it inherently faulty for describing loot box systems?

Seeing him drop that fluent Japanese in the video with Kojima is still one of the coolest surprises I have seen on the business side of gaming.

It took my thirty or so attempts to beat the roller-coaster clown boss on the second island but I eventually did it. And it felt good! I don't think an easier version of this game would be as good. I dread to think how long it will take me to do later bosses.

I'm still having a blast. I think this game has made me shout 'oh shit!' out loud in joy at what is happening on screen more than any other game this year.

Played some more and shouted 'holy shit!' at my computer while laughing at one of the boss transitions. Game is still great.

I got Battlefront last Christmas exactly for the couch co-op. The fact that it has couch co-op was enough for me.

I can't remember exactly what I found out but I seem to remember reading the DLC maps don't have the split-screen so there was no point me getting them.

As for the game, yeah it's fun for a few rounds here and there. I don't think you'll be able to play it all afternoon but to me it was worth it because I was able to get it cheap.
