And @karkarov, I realize that every consortium disagrees with this, but I cringe at calling 1080i "HD" when it's only updating 540 lines every frame. You're absolutely right that it is technically an HD resolution, but that classification gets a big thumbs-down from me.

Thank you! Someone who understands!! Interlacing has absolutely no business existing in this world.

What @billmcneal said about Ken Griffey Jr. Presents MLB is correct. They recently played that game on The Old Games Show and it looked like they were having a lot of fun, and had nothing but good things to say about it. I also played the N64 sequel recently and thought it was pretty cool, but not as good as the SNES version.

@onionknight14: if you have an iOS device, I would recommend downloading the trial of Rosetta Stone and seeing if you like it. Despite what the OP said, I really liked it.

Just to be clear, I'm mainly talking about videos/tv shows/movies and not video games. Most older games actually look worse on HD TVs and much better on CRTs.

I'd edit my post to reflect this, but it isn't working for some reason.

Man, I forgot about Lemongrab. He was great. I think "City of Thieves" is my favorite episode. I recently saw it again and was reminded why I loved Adventure Time in the first place. I think it was a season 1 or 2 episode though...

Also, I've never liked the Fiona / Cake episodes either. Thoughts?

I personally found the Rosetta Stone app on iOS to be great. Granted I'm not as far along as you, but I learned a lot from just the trial.

Other then that, I'd echo what others are saying and recommend watching lots of anime with English subs. I personally did this and it helped a lot in learning the context of certain words. Also the frequency at which they say "Kawaii" (cute), but that could have been the anime I was watching. It's also jarring when they speak English because it's usually grammatically incorrect, or spoken with such a heavy accent it's nearly incomprehensible.

Also, what is your goal in learning the language? Is it to speak? Read? Write? Or just general comprehension? Or all of the above?

@ntm: I almost mentioned Outland, but I didn't think it was a metroidvania. Is there even a map? I can't remember.

Shadow Complex for me. It was my first and so far the best I've played. I tried to play SoTN on several occasions, but could never get into it. I also tried to play Super Metroid, but couldn't get into that either. I know, blasphemy. Even though it gets a lot of hate, I actually liked Mirror of Fate. I played the HD version on 360 and thought it was quite good.

I'll just go burn myself on a stake now.

@penguindust: well, the actor didn't change he just went through puberty. So his voice isn't squeaky anymore.

I also didn't know Ward wasn't in charge anymore. I wonder if that contributes to my perceived increase in darker themed episodes.

You guys should check out Clarence too. I really like it. I've tried to watch Steven Universe, but I can't get into it. I've also recently started enjoying The Amazing World of Gumball too. I don't know why, but Adventure Time reminds me of Katamari Damacy.

Definitely following. I started keeping track of the games I finish a few years ago and have noticed a downward trend in the numbers as the years go by.

I can't tell you how good it is to read that I'm not the only one who plays about an hour or two each night. I remember when I used to play games all day, but I simply don't have the time anymore. Even if I did, I've found that I can't stand to play anything longer then about 4 hours at a time. I don't have the patience for it anymore. The last game I was able to play for long stretches was Diablo 3. I'm really looking forward to The Witcher 3, but I don't know if I'll play it as obsessively as D3.
