I just found out that I never played Symphony of the Night. (I could have sworn that I had played it but I checked the platforms and the games I have and I haven't.)

So I jumped up to check my Vita and saw Symphony of the Night on there.

Then I saw Dracula x Chronicles on there with worse reviews... BUT it comes with a superior version of Symphony of the Night AND Rondo of Blood.

So... 2.5 Castlevania games I never played of one of my favorite video game series for $10? That is amazing! I will try unlock Rondo of Blood and play alongside with this series :D

Good start of a day.

Is it me or is Vinny's voice becoming increasingly deep and masculine?
Is that a benefit of being a father? Hmm.

As a nooby aspiring small time video game designer/developer Jonathan Blow is one of my idols. It's so alien and cool seeing him on this site with GiantBomb talking to the other people I know!

What an interesting take. I never even considered this. As someone who doesn't really experience physical interaction with people (that makes it sound worse than it is, but it is true) that didn't even cross my mind.

Planescape Torment 2 (kinda) and Zelda this year :)
2016 might be the best year in gaming.

When I was a teen and had no internet, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was a guilty pleasure of mine. Back then I thought it looked dorky, and Link had pointy ears. I had never heard of Zelda before and I didn't think the game had a following. I absolutely loved the game but I just couldn't let anyone know I played that game and have lied about it. I actually tried to finish a rented copy (by my mother) because I didn't want to be seen buying it. Eventually I had to buy it so I could finish it. Looking back at it now it's like I wasn't me. I hardly understand the reasoning now.

Right now my guilty pleasure has to be Destiny. I enjoyed it even though I think the game is not worth the money and I disliked almost every part of it. I don't like the grinding, loot based cycles, the pvp, the in-game purchases, etc. But somehow I still played that game a lot. I feel like I shouldn't have and would not recommend it to anyone.

I never really question the violence towards men in videogames so it feels wrong for me (for me, for me) to question the violence towards women in games. Especially when it's not set in reality. But we all feel strongly about different things and that point you make is absolutely true and it goes both ways. I totally respect the people who do feel concerned about the representation of a gender in a video game.

I guess I just never really make that connection. When there is a naked woman in a game I don't feel like she represents anything. It's just that naked woman in a game. And I'm not that woman, and I'm not in that game, and that's kind of where it ends for me. But maybe not for you. And seeing a naked woman in a game definitely won't make me (me, me) believe that other women I meet should or will be naked. But I can also see that somebody else who does feel strongly about these things would think that is naive or shortsighted because there is a trend, and maybe gaming has to be a positive representation of reality because otherwise bad ideas may seep into our mindset. That may very well be the case. Maybe this means that I have already given up on the national, global, shared mindset. Or maybe I naively want my games to be disconnected from reality when they can't be. I don't want politics to influence what characters appear in my games and what they are allowed to say. I play most games to be away from humans and from those ideas that humans have.

I guess there are a lot of facets to this, and with it exponentially more points of view. So I guess you'll think what you have to think and I will think what I have to think and in the end we're all right in our own way. So I hope that we'll find a way to not screw up our society, yet still have games for everyone (everyone, everyone) to enjoy.

And by the way, when it comes to MGS I would agree that those moments, especially the rain scene with Quiet was cringe worthy. And I say that as somebody who can appreciate the female body. There are better ways to put something sexy in a game, in my opinion, or other games more suited for such things.

Everything we have heard of seems to suggest to me, that the NX will be primarily new software. Supported by some hardware but I don't think that is their focus at all.

NX: Cross platform. Wildly varying specs, resolutions, control schemes. So that leads to two possibilities:

1.Different versions of games, like supporting apps, that hopefully communicate with one another probably through the rumored premium service (monthly fee).

2.Nintendo Steam, which let's you play Nintendo phone games/ handheld games/ console games. The only thing you could streamline between these very different platforms would be the controls. The hardware could be a controller for their software platform.

The patent for a touch screen controller with varying screen space could suggest a controller that changes functionality depending on whether it is used on your phone, a handheld or the PC. But that is wildly speculative and an untreaded path. Unlikely that one platform would use so many new technologies and approaches.

Either way if the NX is cross platform, Nintendo will have to deal with many different hardware specs and screen dimensions, and it would depend on a strong network. So if the NX is cross platform, it has to be something we don't expect from Nintendo per definition.
