Man, how was this 5 years ago...Coming back to have this on in the background while I play Mansions of Madness and it really doesn't feel that long ago.
This solidifies I probably don’t need to play this. Still Nintendo being stupid about the internet for no reason whatsoever. I’ll just play Stardew some more.
@ggalien: yeah, its not a good game at all. I think tying it to Cthulhu at all in the story was a massive stretch, personally, and it doesn't even make sense how they summon in any of the related endings. There are so many entities in the mythos, both and original and added on over the last 100 years, to pull from it feels ridiculous to bring Cthulhu directly into it. Even Dark Corners of the Earth was more about Dagon, Mother Hydra, and the Innsmouth/Deep One stuff.
Thanks for the recommendation! This game really bummed me out because there's ZERO reason why someone can't make a good CoC related game these days.
Yes, the developer of The Long Dark is being anti-consumer (and actually being two faced in his approach). How the NVidia system works is it takes games I have already purchased and that exist under my Steam account and it installs that on a VM that I can access with the NVidia service. That developer told TWO different stories on Twitter about why he took the game down.
1. "They didn't ask me." This line makes it seem as though he was totally cool with them doing it if "they had only asked permission first!"
2. That this is actually a service that makes it hard for them to SELL YOU THE SAME GAME AGAIN ON ANOTHER PLATFORM or even on mobile which means he would never do this. Can't get Apple money as easily if your game is available to stream through NVidia.
I think the above two statements, if take with sincerity, are mutually exclusive. You can't claim #1 while then agreeing with another developer on #2. This brings game ownership and the old argument of "developers are the good guys, publishers are the bad guys" in a different light. I'm fully there to buy a game but what I do with that game, as long as I'm not effecting another player's experience (cheating in online, for example) I should be able to do what I want with my copy of the game.
@amightyfortress: definitely true but I feel Ben is rather consistent with it. I remember when Jan was going to talk about Kingdom Hearts and his time with it and Ben decided to make it the "Ben makes fun of Kingdom Hearts instead of the guy who likes it and actually played it talks about it show".
@undeadkink: Jeff just buys stuff all the time and then actively talks about never using it.
@humanity I have pretty good success with buying stuff on PSN through a web browser and pushing the install to my console. I haven't tried it on XBone but I know it rarely works for me on Steam.
1. I feel like the same complaints going into last generation are going into this and practically everyone at that table was wrong about console gaming last time.
2. Ben really needs to let other people talk. He completely walked all over Jason.
3. "Just build a PC" is as pointless and condescending now as it always has been.
Day 4 and 5 were nice...1-3 was a waste as someone who listens to all the podcasts through the year. Bring back fun categories and have more group videos this year, please.
There is something hilarious about hearing Jeff say that he can't get too excited for Cyberpunk 2077 because he knows what that game is going to be after immediately coming off a Game of the Year podcast where he argued to have (another) Call of Duty added to the top 10 games of the year.
