I don't see what the problem is. And I'm sure the first EP will be out way before 2020, hopefully. If Square-Enix fans need a Final Fantasy fix until XV, Lightning Returns just came out on PC yesterday.
Jeff was talking about when the entire game will be out and even though I hope he'll be proven wrong, it might really take them to 2020 or whatever.
This looks like another fine reason to finally buckle up and get myself a Wii U. If Vinny were actually voicing those monsters I'd buy one right this second even.
@wondeboy: Sure, I'm with you that the term video game doesn't always fit the medium perfectly. There was an interesting thread on this subject here on the forums only recently if memory serves me right.
The TT games at least have some minor "gaming" mechanics still in tact while Her Story pretty much just told a story, which by all means isn't a bad thing, but I don't know. It's the same reason I didn't put Gone Home on my list a few years back. I liked it but felt something was missing to actually qualify it for GOTY type lists.
@wondeboy: Yeah, I only managed to cram in that many games this time around because I was out a regular job for a while in the early months of the year. Anyway you are right, it was a pretty damn awesome year for games.
Mario Maker would probably have ended up on my list, but I haven't played it because I don't own an Wii U yet.
Her Story I really liked a lot, but it's barely a game (more of an experience I'd say), even less so than LiS or TfTB already are, so I felt I shouldn't put it on the list.
Hey, @zombiepie it would be really cool if you could feature my early and quite lengthy GOTY blog on the next spotlight. (Self promotion is great.) By the way isn't the spotlight late?
