Wow, I am really surprise the Last of Us is winning so lopsidedly. I love both. Any other year Bioshock would have gotten game of the year for sure. Naughty Dog are really resonating with a lot of people lately.
Well I am a guy so I can't really comment on this issue. Me and my girlfriend both work in the industry so I will roughly translate her short comment.
"It is less about the industry and more about people being shitty. Guys be more respectful and less grabby. Girl save your voice for when it matters. If you yell at a guy just joking around with his friend when a serious issue actually comes up no one will listen. This is a society's issue anyways we all need to be better then the industry will be as well."
Now I don't agree with everything she said but like I said I am an asian male I should not comment on what woman should do. I would also like to hear from other women and less from men on this issue.
I had a 360 for 4 years this generation but for the last 2 years Microsoft have shown me that they can not be counted on for steam-level price awareness. Sony on the other hand have been rolling with that idea for the last 6 months. I think we all can pretty much agree that psn infrastructure just sucks. I will go so far as saying that's a fact, and yet in the last 6 months I have bought 23 games of off psn sales. That sounds real close to steam level impulse buy to me. Main while, my "main console" the 360 sit in the corner, not having anything to play. Microsoft have shown they will not sustain their system past launch and we cant trust them to sustain a steam level of market flexibility. I am not saying Sony have proven themselves but they are not the one claiming the future and yet they are the one trying for it.
(English is not my first language so excuse my grammar.)
Seeing a lot of the reactions from facebook and social media. It seems the damage is already done and the kinect requirement is still a talking point for a lot of people (not to mention the price). I don't know what microsoft can do at this point to win back the hearts and mind of most hardcore but this is only a small step.
I disagree considering the biggest games in the world are LoL and small iphone games like angry bird. The gaming industry is obsess with Hollywood action main while LoL with a quarter, if not less, budget is making them look like children selling lemonade. I am not saying Moba are the future I am saying strong graphic direction and solid game-play mechanics are game sellers not graphical fidelity.
