There's a pretty decent video from our friends over at Tested that explains pretty much what you need to know. Otherwise, there are many MANY tech websites out there that usually publish at-least-quarterly build lists.

When you actually get down to brass tacks and want to part out and build one yourself, I like to use

to get a general idea of the available parts out there and mock up a list.

Just got in myself, seems interesting to personalize your profile and all that jazz. Realistically though, I don't even look at other profiles..

As an alternative suggestion;

I've used a pair of Sennheiser U 320s previously and thought they were damn decent for the price point; downside if they are wired. That may be a con for you.
