Anyone still playing this game? I finally got around to playing some this weekend and had a ton of fun. Blasted some tunes and flew around like a samurai!
I appreciate the concept, but the instanced games were not big enough to really be considered a MMO. They should have just sold the game as a persistent multiplayer shooter/"rpg" for one flat cost. I know that would have made me buy it. A lot of people are turned off the second you mention monthly fees.
No, but you should. Save your money and play your copy of Fallout 3 first -- no reason to buy another $60 game when you haven't finished the first one yet. By the time you finish Fallout 3 maybe NV will drop in price, making up for the inevitable 5 DLC packs.
I haven't run into any bugs, but the load times are getting ridiculous. Last night I was running some missions for the Kings and it took over a minute to exit the building, followed by a 20ft run to the door to Freeside (another minute load screen) -- cross the hub world (about 200-yards) and brace for ANOTHER minute long load screen. I talk to one guy, turn around and repeat what I just did. That's about 6-minutes of load screens for 2-minutes of actual playtime. Needless to say my iPad is always in arms reach while playing this game.
It feels like you get several houses in this game, but one ends up being a meeting point for your companions -- although I got that one about 12-hours in.
If there is one thing that Fallout 3 taught me it was to save very, very often. Like before doing pretty much anything important. 3.5 hours is a LOOONG time to go without saving. I probably save every 5-10mins.
