It's funny how the PC gaming market seems to be crumbling at brick and mortor stores and yet... I feel fine. I REALLY love steam, a little too much these days. I'm finding that I'm rebuying older games I may already have just so that I can ditch the CDs and have them available on STEAM where I know I can always access them. This weekend's culprit was Max Payne 2, which  at $9.99 has one of the better stories that I can remember in video games, definitely close to tops for the action genre.

Max Payne 2 was an awesome game

I got Max Payne 2 recently and haven't touched it. Maybe I should before the movie hits.

Also I'm glad someone at GB plays TF2. It seems a bit neglected over there.

I bought Max Payne, Max Payne 2 and the rest of Rockstar's PC games off of Steam a couple weekends ago. I haven't played it yet.

I also have the Max Payne for the PS2, but I might skip that since I have the PC version now.

I think those 2-D games stand the graphical test of time so well because those games were (pretty much) at the technical high point of that "style" of gaming. We talk about the jump to 3-D graphics, and jump is literally the correct word: game designers didn't take the 2-D code and art they were previously using and turn into 3-D. The 3rd dimension brought a whole new set of possibilities and challenges for designers and artists; they were working in a new style of game representation. Those old 2-D games from the 8 bit and 16 bit era of gaming  were pushing the limitations of what 2-D can do; they're still great looking 2-D games, because 2-D gaming is a style. The same way that black and white was a technical limitation that turned into a style choice for film, 2-D graphical design became it's own style.
 In closing: boy, those Bethesda guys and gals sure make good games, don't they? They probably work in a great town...and a great state.

Gah, your gonna get so frusterated with Star Wars before you beat so all I'll say is, Godspeed.

I didn't like Max Payne 2 as much as the first one and I can't quite put my finger on why. I don't have it on steam and it's no longer on my hard drive, but the mods for it keep me thinking, maybe I'll install it again. Who am I kidding, I would never play it.

I can't play games for than once either. It's terrible. Even some of my favorite games like Bioshock and GTA4 just sit on the shelf collecting dust as I play me some Afrika.
