Saw First Man on Saturday.

Overall it's well acted and the cinematography was really good - but wow, this is one somber as fuck movie. I was not expecting to be so depressed about a movie on going to the moon.

I sort of felt like I wasted my time and money: I obviously knew the outcome to the movie before I went in, but the slow pace and depressing tone the film had left me wishing I would have done something else with my time.

Again, quality wise it was good - but I would not recommend it, nor watch it again.

Such a strange thing to say - "pushing 2D graphics to their limits".

Does he mean just more shit on the screen? I can't really think of anything else that would be taken care of with a graphics chip - everything else requires more time, money and talent like animation or design.

Regardless, I AM excited at the prospect of a system devoted to 2D. But it's certainly tempered a bit by the E for everyone nonsense.

I think they evolved into what we call musou games now - like Dynasty Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors, so yes - the market is still there in that sense. The more traditional stuff you mentioned still has a niche market - the new Streets of Rage being the latest. But I don't think that will ever grow significantly.

As for my favorites - Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe, and Scott Pilgrim rank pretty high for me. Also love me some Alien Storm when I want something weird. :-)

Very much so - though I do wish I was better at them/had more time for them.

Back in the day, I was really into the Virtua Fighter series, especially 2. SF4 reignited the genre in many ways, but SFV really got me back into it big time.

Today I'm playing SFV heavily (G is awesome despite what Jeff says!), and currently loving Fighting EX Layer - which might be my favorite fighter to come along since SFV.

I think it looks worse DOCKED - you really see the blurry textures and jaggies on the bigger screen.

I came to the realization that i need to buy more digital this weekend.

In a moment of pure laziness, I passed up playing SFV, Injustice 2, Strafe, Flinthook, and Hyper Light Drifter simply because I own the disc versions and didn't want to remove my ass from the couch to fetch them.

I instead played Battle Garegga and some Everybody's Golf before going to bed. Both great games, but the fact that I passed up 5 games I would have rather played at the time made me realize I just want all my games digital.

I plan on picking it up today -on PS4 haven't played a good shooter is a long time.

Big fan of side shooters like Rtype and Thunderforce - looking forward to this!

Judging from the stream interview I watched last night, it sounds like the classic Kickstarter mistake of creators taking too much on with stretch goals.

Stretch Goals never made any sense to me - they continue to add features, perks, platform support, etc - all under the same schedule. It's been the demise of so many KS projects.

It's sounds like the team behind M9 all point to the number of platforms they had to support, and the online features, as being the reason for the delays. I have to assume the terrible graphics are a result of the platform support as well.

Stretch Goals can be done well. Look at Shovel Knight for instance, rather than adding it all in immediately, they released the stretch goals in free patches, which I think is a really smart way around the whole issue.

Totally agree - the problem is most don't extend the deadline (or are transparent about it from the start). Instead we get surprise delays and compromises on quality.

More companies should look to Yacht Club on how to do it right. Hell, I wish YCG would have developed Mighty Number 9 :)

Man - this was the one KS project I that I backed where I was certain nothing could go wrong. Then everything went wrong.

Boy, was I ...wrong.
