Hum. I dunno, still on-the-fence about this one. No offense to Brad or anything, but he's made a consistent career of hyping mediocre games. So articles like this aren't doing it for me. I guess I still feel like everyone who was bashing the other Borderlands videos: Where's the immersive environments? If the Enemy A.I. is stupid, why not just make them zombies? Are the guns super-satisfying to use? Without this, aren't you just playing a half-baked FPS with questionable art quality (and loot trappings inferior to Diablo 3)? I'm wanting Gearbox to sell me on this game because I do love online cooperative FPS, but the hooks just aren't there.

It depends on what you want from a FPS. This year, I've spent more time playing Nazi Zombie mode in Call of Duty: World at War than any other game. Not because it's technically superior to anything else - but because it was so addicting and satisfying that I didn't *need* anything else. What started out as merely a "prototype", Nazi Zombie mode has become something really amazing and addictive. Most people who  take jabs at World at War only do so because they judge World at War solely on how its multiplayer stacks up against COD4's multiplayer. I will admit that, if you don't care for old guns or the WW2 theme, then you won't find much mileage out of World at War's multi. But if you love online cooperative zombie mode, you will love Nazi Zombies mode and all of its DLC content. Left 4 Dead straight up sucks compared to it in my honest opinion - I find the old Source engine to be far less immersive than many newer game engines.  Also you can play the campaign cooperatively (unlike in COD4). Don't get the wrong idea - I think COD4 is one of the greatest games ever made. But there's plenty of "gaming needs" it doesn't facilitate that WaW does. I get sick of people not being honest about this. I think I just hate humans. That's a whole other thread though. Hope this helps.

I agree with those saying the art looks kind of whatever. At the same time, it's not a terrible way to spend 400 dollars if you like the 360 and MW2. The chances of you being a fan of MW1, getting this, and being disappointed are pretty slim. It's a good hook for those needing a new 360. Hell, at least its not a launch 360. Are the new 360's red-ringing are no?

" Triple health boosts after dieing 3 times, this and juggernaut will ruin the game like COD4 and WAW. "

I'm going to go on a limb and say COD4 sold a trillion copies, and most who purchased it (and pirated it) don't feel juggernaut ruined the game. It's a weird hunch I have judging by the fact COD4 was the #2 most played game on XBL in 2008 (probably 2009 as well, didn't check). I can't speak for the WaW community on how they feel about juggernaut because I've sank a trillion hours into Nazi Zombie mode and all of its DLC (Map Pack 3 releases for PC/Steam free later today if any WaW fans are reading this). COD4 obviously outsold WaW, but Treyarch has made over 30 million dollars just on the Nazi Zombie DLCs alone.

I'm sorry did you say something about COD and ruined?

Borderland's underwhelming videos to a barrage of Modern Warfare 2 info. Talk about going from one extreme to another. Okay I'm going to stop taking jabs at Borderlands. Anyway, Modern Warfare 2 looks great. If you're someone who's paid attention to the COD4 forums you've already realized most of these updates were things the community asked for. I think it's awesome how much Infinity Ward listens to their community (other developers take notes?). They reinvented online multiplayer with Modern Warfare, and now they've made it even better. It's hard to even say how they could improve it instead of adding more stuff like they did. If there were anything more I'd want from a IW Call of Duty, I guess I'd like to see IW's take on a robust coop for 4 players. I love Nazi Zombie mode in WaW. That stuff, but with IW's quality and modern weapons. Tell me who wouldn't play that.

@ArbitraryWater: but honestly though? Whose expectations are these videos meeting? Kids who will get this for christmas, who know no value of real money, and won't care how good it is? I Dunno. I think a lot of people genuinely know Gearbox's pedigree (not to mention many of us are experienced with good, cooperative fps). I totally understand why so many people look at these videos and go "why should I buy this? What makes this better than (for example) Left 4 Dead or Nazi Zombies?". The enemy A.I., the atmosphere, the art - it's all just very average and has that "old" smell to it. Believe me - I hate saying this about Borderlands or Gearbox. I loved Brothers in Arms 1 and 2. Brothers in Arms 3 was kinda bleh but still.

Man...I duno. I was starting to get pumped about this game because I like Gearbox (and Randy) and I like Cooperative FPS. But like....game looks like it has absolutely zero tactics whatsoever. I'm not talking hardcore Starcraft tactics. I'm talking ANY tactics. I duno. Is the prospect of a billion guns supposed to compensate for the totally flat game play? Maybe...it's weird. An FPS doesn't have to have a cover system but, at least terrain you can use manually as a strategy. Otherwise it just becomes Serious Sam or Doom, which are fun coop but you don't get a lot of mileage of it. I also agree with those questioning the game's enemy A.I. I duno, man. Definitely looking like another one of these genre-blenders that doesn't do any particular thing, particularly well. I'm kind of on-the-fence about the art style - seems like it works in some spots, in others it's kinda weird and off-putting. Perhaps it'll turn out like an online Serious Sam with classes/loot/stats, which is fine.
