I just finished my first playthrough as an adept on hardcore which I thought I'd mention just because no one has said anything about adept yet - but I decided on Vanguard for insanity, using Reave as extra power.  So far I'm finding it's a lot different than adept, which is a good thing.

I hate to do another biotic class - I did a full playthrough as an engineer in mass effect and enjoyed it, but I just don't like the idea of combat drone or tactical cloak at all. And soldier is a little too vanilla for me.  Sentinel seems to be the defacto easymode class, so here we are with the Vanguard.

Kelly Chambers is definitely a hot assistant.   As for Miranda, when I started the game I was not interested.  Over time though she just gets hotter and hotter.  It's the voice, the actions, the story - she is dead sexy.  Way more interesting than Liara or Ash.

I had a gameboy/tetris early on.  Parents wouldn't buy an actual console, but when I saved up enough for the N64 I got it together with Goldeneye.  Circa 1997

I'm not into horror movies, but Basketball Diaries was on the other night and I found it quite disturbing.

I counted 17 that I'm sure I've read (US region), honestly a lot of them I am familiar with the plots or characters and I'm not sure if I ever actually read it or not.  Still more have movies that I may or may not have seen and I can't remember whether I ever read the book or not.

That said, I'm not into the classics at the moment, if I read a novel today it's going to be a bit more modern.  Some of those I can't believe even qualify as classics, and of the books that I've read that would be considered classics, many failed to make the list.

I know this is not really a new concept, but I've recently begun playing D2 again, and letting some of the story dialogues play out, and watching the cut scenes again (love these, D2 is so good).  Doing this, I am reminded why I decided that Tyrael should be the ultimate Diablo villian, even years before D3 was ever announced.  In fact it almost seems painfully obvious that they were setting him up for this in some cases.  The question is, is it just coincidence or were Blizzard really thinking so far in advance?  That is, did they already have an idea about how the story continues when D2 was made?  Here is the dialogue that I encountered when after kill Duriel last night (courtesy of Diablowiki):

Cain:
"It is highly unusual for the forces of Heaven to so directly interfere with man's destiny, but Tyrael was said to act of his own volition. We have never been able to discern why. Perhaps, he goes against the consensus of Heaven because he doubts our ability to defend ourselves, or perhaps, he sees more threat than his peers. Where the actions of Hell often seem straightforwardly bent on destruction, the motives of Heaven are unfathomable."

So Tyrael's motives for helping men when heaven usually stays out of it are unknown..... no big deal surely.

But what got me thinking about it in the first place many years ago was in act V,  with the destruction of the worldstone.

Anya:
"Strange that you say that the Worldstone must be destroyed. The prophecies said nothing about that. Perhaps all we have fought for will be lost--or perhaps we'll never need fight again!"

Malah:
"If Tyrael says the Worldstone must be destroyed, then it must. We cannot let Baal's corruption prevail! The world will change, true -- but who is to say it isn't for the better?"

Qual-Kehk:
"The destruction of the Worldstone does not bode well for our world. But I'll try not to worry... After all, we have warriors like you fighting for us and for the Light. Farewell!"

All these citizens of Harrogath seem a little uneasy about the destruction of their sacred stone.  That's all I've got for now.  I'll keep my eyes open as I play through the rest of the game and see what else pops up in favor of this theory.  Also - Tyrael has that awesome moving background on the D3 website.

I'm sure most people agree that Diablo 2 isn't about the story, but rather the loot.  I still think the story is good, and that it's backed up by the absolute best CG cutscenes of its time.

Nope, never mind about achievements, started up D2 and I'm hooked again.  I can see me playing this for several weeks exclusively at least.

Played and beat Torchlight recently.  Installed D2 last night.  It's a much deeper game.  Don't know why I would continue to play TL over D2.  It's also got a lot more bugs and ambiguous mechanics.  There's also the familiarity I have with Diablo.  Why learn a new system, when I already possess so much nearly useless knowledge about Diablo.  Also, multiplayer.

Edit:  Ah yes, now I remember, achievements.  The saving grace.

I did a reinstall on my OS (new mobo) several months ago and I finally installed D2 last night.  Previously, my game had been patched to 1.12 which removed the diskcheck on startup.  After patching directly to 1.13 full install, I now must have the disk in to play.

Anybody experience this, or have an idea?
