Can Dan just be restricted to pick out really bad games (Mario Sunshine, Mario Party,...) to build a feature around them?

Starting a game he claims he's played for 8 hours, but still not recognizing and also ignoring the tutorial? And complaining the game doesn't explain anything but ignoring every prompt?

Sure, this game might not explain things very well, but if almost every comment is by people that have never played the game and probably only saw this one video about it; and yet they still understand the game better than someone who has played it for 8 hours? This is not the games fault.

It might be a bad game, who knows, but watching this video sure didn't help showing it. Like others have said, this is very much Old Dan, hell bent on showing what a terrible game he thinks it is.

It's as if I would review an Madden game: "look how dumb this is, what are all these people doing, what are all those weird words, american football is just dumb, why is this complicated drawing shown if I just want to throw a ball; I better ignore it, why do the other guys don't run to where I am going to throw the ball, why is my team suddenly a bunch of other guys, why can I throw the ball forward that's not how rugby works"

Why oh why spoil the toilet thing! That would have been insanely funny if it was unexpected!

And who cares if you didn't like GTA games, it's not like this is about the GTA story or dialogues, it's just an unpredictable environment in which they can do a thing...

Awesome playdate. I also enjoy 'I don't know anything about anything so please teach me about it'-Dan much more than 'I don't know anything about anything, and it's all stupid stuff for nerds so don't even try to teach me!'-Dan.

I would love to see more of this game, or just videos in general in which Dan (or someone else) makes a genuine effort to learn stuff about games (or history, or any other topic) they don't know a lot about.

I think this way of "preparing" the GOTY talks is great. Mostly because it is more of them talking about their love for games. Up to this year, there was a lot of complaining about game X, because someone wanted game Y to be ranked higher. This time it is more about celebrating good games without the hate.

And then Dan enters, doing a real hitjob on RDR. Jeff doesn't like it, and explains why, others also have their issues with it, and they explain why. Dan is just: "this is the worst thing ever, everything is bad", finding a way to spin everything someone mentions into a bad thing. While I usually disagree with "learn to play" comments, his extreme negativity towards this game makes me think he just deliberately fucked in in the game just to have more things to complain about. I was impressed with the lack of bugs or issues in the game, so it's weird the worlds luckiest person suddenly would have so many?

Hitman 2 on the other hand, crapped out constantly, crashes, freezes, targets walking through solid walls or suddenly teleporting off the map entirely. Some missions that felt really rushed or illogical (eg the Mumbai mission where you had to identify a target: there are 2 pictures of him in the level, but to proceed with the story you have to have the picture linked to that story, the other one doesn't count towards the objective for some reason; or how if you identify him in one way, the story that allows you to identify him in another way just won't resolve the final step....). I felt that game really lacked either the extra funding from a big publisher, or the QA scrutiny that a big publisher would require. I love that they are independent now, and hope they are successful, and I still enjoyed playing this game; but in a sequel that's pretty much: here are six more levels, I would not expect so much technical issues.

I found this excruciating to watch. It was clear pretty quick this was a bit, even during the live show, because Dan was being extra-Dan, and Alex went full on maniacal even in the menus. I'm assuming this is like a 'wrestling bit' or something, but I found it to be devoid of humour or entertainment. Not really a nice way to treat the people that have been asking for a Alex teaches Dan Civ video since the moment Dan said he would love to try to 'get it' with Alex's help. And those that wanted them to play more Quiet Man also didn't get their time's worth because the "joke" lasted longer than playing that game. If they did the "bit" for 5 minutes and then played 90 minutes of Quiet Man, this would have been far less annoying to me.

But I guess even the greatest comedians and showmen have something in their career that's looked back upon with shame. I'll just see it that way.

It seems like the story wanted to capitalize on the worldwide anti-USA feelings, but lost its guts halfway through. I've played for a bit over an hour, and really was looking forward to gunning down christian fundamentalists by the boatload. In most other Far Cry games, there is often the question on whether the player is not making things worse by killing everyone and throwing the local situation into complete chaos. But in FC5 I was like "no, I am going to absolutely kill every one of these assholes because they 100% deserve it", until your first local help shows up and they are also those "USA #1!!!" crazy dudes, covered in american flags, badges.... It was like the script writers got told "make sure people understand this game is only about these really fucked up zealots, not against every gun loving nutjob, those are cool!!!"

Also, the constant drugged haze is dumb, I really hope there's going to be a PC mod to get rid of that.

Well played! One minor thing though, in missions like these it's a good idea to just kill as much as the remaining enemies as possible. It's pretty much free XP for the soldiers, especially when it's melee-only chrysalids coming down a narrow path, shooting bugs in a barrel!

I don't think it's supposed to be a premium only stream though... At the moment it's just streaming through an unlisted YouTube stream. Anyone who has the link can watch it. If this is the setup they are going for (which would make it like a million times cheaper to host I assume), the link to the stream can be very easily shared anyway...

Huge thanks to Vinny for making sure Alex knows what options he has and warning him before he might do something he does not intend to do. That's the best way to prevent dumb mistakes and also helps them learn the game, without straight up telling them how to play. Please keep doing that for the viewers mental well being. Although I know Dan will refuse to listen to advice and Abby will have done something before Vinny even gets the chance to speak.

I'd buy this game if it had an Alex and Vinny commentary track.

Either that or they fix this mechanism in which you need to eat and drink every 5 minutes and batteries last minutes. I wonder how many people actually like those systems. To me it just seems annoying. Sure, a survival game needs to include some resource management but dying when you don't drink and eat constantly is just silly.
