I truly wonder if Dan is just trying to sabotage this series, because it isn't one of "his" games? I'd hate for them to stop this very entertaining concept just so they have to play another horrible game like Mario Party or Sunshine.

He's always said he really likes Nu-XCOM, so no.

People really feel the need to get worked up about them not playing right. Personally, I find what they're doing much more entertaining than watching someone do an optimal play-through.

But it's not one of "his" games, so I don't know?

And there is "playing right" vs "having fun and just going for things", sure. But just doing whatever without even bothering to read what is on the screen is another thing altogether. That's not fun or entertaining, that's plain stupidity. If it was another of Dan's "I'm doing stupid things because I don't want the "Dan" character to die whatever the cost (because wrestling?), I would just be sighing. But this is not that.

I truly wonder if Dan is just trying to sabotage this series, because it isn't one of "his" games? I'd hate for them to stop this very entertaining concept just so they have to play another horrible game like Mario Party or Sunshine. Not understanding you have to click on the Generator to have the game let you build the Generator, sure that's just Dan being Dan. Not taking longer than 5 seconds to figure out if they might be doing wrong or if this really strange mechanic is working as intended is kind of crazy. Ignoring a large red warning, damn he is really being Dan today.... Ignoring it again, no one is that inattentive (should probably use a stronger word here....) right? And even while he succeeded the mission it seemed he was really trying to fail it? Splitting of 2 soldiers, rushing forward to trigger more enemies, constantly taking shots with very low hit chances....

I know this can all be explained away with "but they are just trying to move things along to be entertaining!". But how often do you see comments stating "Well it was really boring when they took 5 seconds to read all that text or when they listened to what te game was explaining to them. They really need to spend more time talking about wrestling during anything that's not the shooting part!!!!" I know comments do not represent every viewer, but they must be some kind of representation of what most people think about a video, right? And in many concept-heavy games, this keeps occurring, often followed by "this game is not very clear in what it wants me to do!"

Seven talkative people is just too many participants in a podcast. And then add in a quiz master for half an hour and everything just becomes noise :(

You need someone with a lot of discipline to stop all the side conversations, but they were happening constantly...

First mailbag was from The Netherlands.

Verkoopster = Saleswoman

Bakkershulp = Baker's help.

Cote d'or are heavy on the french on their packaging (Cote d'or = Golden coast).

Lait (fr) = Melk (nl) = milk (eng)

Belgian candy, Belgian chocolate, Belgian Trappist, Belgian beer... Going to assume it's a Belgian Bag!

A lesser man would have just said 'Fuck Dan Ryckert and his ego tripping bullshit, I'm undoing his childish nonsense!'. Much love for Abby for just going with the much smarter approach of 'Well I can make up silly stories too!' and fixing things up!

Also great to see how much she's improved in the game!

@tomba_be: Friends don't throw threats about 3 bucks a month.

The vast majority of comments that were against Dan's act, did so in a respectful manner. Because an extremely small minority of them said stupid shit, does not invalidate everyone else's opinion. If you throw everyone on the same pile, you are in fact just as bad as those voicing threats.

Failing to understand peeps in these comments...

Are some people maybe getting a little too emotionally attached to the folks they watch on their monitor / TV?

Well, GB is a personality-driven website. So people getting somewhat attached to the personalities on this website is pretty much what pays the bills. If people did not care about the personality of the crew, why bother paying for premium content when there are millions of hours of free game-related video on YouTube? GB fans are happy when one of the crew has good news (Drew's travel Patreon succeeding, people getting married and having babies), worried when something bad happens (Jeff's wife's health scare just a few weeks back) and mourn Ryan.

They consider the GB crew to be a bunch of friends that hang out and play video games. And if someone in a group of friends keeps acting like Dan sometimes does, people get upset. Because in real life, people would get upset if someone keeps acting like that in their circle of friends. Even when they know it's just an act. Other crew members, most notably Patrick, have gotten some serious hate over the years, but at least that was because of their actual characters, so there isn't really anything that could be done about that anyway. But the Dan that people dislike is not the real Dan, which makes it more frustrating. Because when he's not doing his wrestling thing, he seems just as cool as anyone else.

Perhaps Dan should go full-time to the wrestling circus. Because that's were pretending to be an obnoxious child-man is considered a talent. I'm sure he's normally an OK guy to hang out with, but if I was interested in someone pretending to be, let's call it "quirky", there are thousands of YouTube channels with nothing but that. That's not what I'm on GB for. All of the others just behave like they would in real life during recordings, Dan should start to figure out that he doesn't have to act like this to be found interesting.

Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company.

The mission went as well as could be expected with just rookies. But the whole "I'm not going to read things on the screen" thing will probably be what causes a very early game over. They really need to get someone another rank up, so they can increase the squad size. That's usually a major boost in the early missions... But I fear it will be overlooked, making things even more difficult.

Really sad though that Dan is not up next. I would have loved to have seen the letter detailing how "hero" Dan Ryckert turned out to be a coward AND a lousy shot, and got himself killed in a most deserving way!
