Just to add an appropriate quote to this fine thread..

"Shanna, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash."

@Fockinator: I'm surprised this thread is still around, but seeing that it is, I suppose it's worth commenting.

I think it's clear that you deserved punishment of some sort, but I agree that banning was over-the-top. (though, I don't exactly have the records of what you said to that other person and whether you have a history with PSN that we are not privy to) When your name became the issue, I somewhat understood that, as well. Though, again, I don't think that's ban worthy. Instead, they should just force you to change your name, and perhaps throw in a short suspension for good measure.

As far as enforcement, though, I think that's a separate problem from all of this. You were rightfully punished for things you said and the infringing name you chose. Now, we can debate whether banning is the appropriate punishment; I happen to think it is not. Whether your punishment was rightful or not has nothing to do with possible lacking enforcement though. I think that's the part sticking in many people's craw. This insistence on everyone else paying, as though that would make you feel better about your own banning. Instead, this really should just be a discussion on why banning isn't the proper response and no one should be banned for this nonsense. We should encourage Sony to change their policy.

Beyond that, I'm not sure you've really "learned [your] lesson", as it were. I mean, redirecting your anger at yourself over making this stupid mistake toward trying to get more people banned seems like the actions of someone who hasn't honestly admitted that they are the one at fault in this scenario. Even if someone pushes your buttons, you are still responsible for yourself. And in this life, and even in a game chat, things won't always be fair. The guy who started it won't always be the one punished. That's common. The key is just not be the one who swung back. It's a lot easier online or in a game than in person.

I suggest you allow this thread to die off and you make new thread about why you think banning is not an appropriate punishment for name violations. Write something substantive and make it compelling. Not just "I was banned, so banning sucks." Your story isn't exactly the poster child of wrongful banning. So, find other examples and get people interested. Then perhaps your horrible turn of events can start a nice conversation on banning, policy enforcement, and the need for greater accountability in game services like PSN and XBL, without all the baggage of your personal story here.

Frankly, considering their absurd wealth, I'm just surprised they aren't posing with dead human beings they had hunted down for sport.

@TrafalgarLaw: That's actually the tail, not the trunk.

: If it helps, they did actually donate all of the meat from the elephant, antelope, etc to the local populations. (apparently nearly 10,000 pounds of meat to villagers) So, none of the animals went to waste.

I'm not a fan of this kind of killing, but I'm glad they at least weren't just doing it for something to hang on a wall. They just hunted for the thrill(after getting the proper licenses) and then gave away the resources of the animals to the local population. Which is far better than what a lot of these trophy hunters do.

To me, the issue is that they apparently didn't implement the shorts properly. The shorts should work well with the geometry of any outfits, and they should be properly dye-able as other clothes are. I 100% agree with them adding the shorts, but they definitely need to tweak them to not hinder someone's personal styling of the character.

This isn't a case of unwarranted censorship. It's proper censorship executed a bit poorly.

Judging simply off Extreme_Popcorn's translation of your... whatever that was, I can say that Andrew Lincoln does a fine job presenting a convincing southern accent. Since such accents do vary quite a bit from person to person, his doesn't stick out as particularly odd or anything out of the ordinary.

Hope that answers your question. :)

@dudeglove: Also, those paranoid Russians are technically correct; there is generally less oxygen in winter than the rest of the year. Though, it isn't actually something to be concerned about. There is plenty of oxygen out there.

The oxygen discrepancy comes from plants. In the winter, trees and oxygen-producing plants are generally wilted or covered, leading to less oxygen being released in the air. Once the leaves start to convert CO2 to oxygen again in the Spring, things balance out once again and there builds up plenty of oxygen for the future. Don't worry; you're not going to run out of oxygen in these cold months. And the oxygen content has little to do with your static electricity issues.

(Edit: Also, if the static electricity is truly painful or annoying within your home, you can always invest in a cheap humidifier. That should rectify static electricity issues in your home during the winter.)

@dudeglove: It is the low temperatures leading to a lower relative humidity in the air. Lower relative humidity leads to more static electricity. If you wear clothing conducive to creating electrical charges, the low relative humidity will amplify the normal static electricity you would conduct.

This is due to the fact that water is a good conductor of electricity. Humidity adds a thin layer of moisture on most objects, such as your door knob, your car, other people, etc. When an electrical charge is present, the water spreads it more efficiently, causing less areas of concentrated electricity. Thus, high humidity will lead to lower noticeable static electricity, as the electricity on an object is more evenly distributed.

When relative humidity is low, particularly in cold weather, there is little to no moisture on the surface of objects. Thus, any static electricity that object may have(or the static electricity you conduct yourself through shuffling your shoes and clothes) will directly transfer to another object which touches it, such as your hand. When you touch that knob, there is no layer of moisture to spread around the electrical charge and make the exchange less noticeable. Thus, you actually feel the static electricity directly.

If you can reduce things that will lead to static electricity, that will serve you well during cold, dry times of the year like this. If that is not an option, then you will simply have to get used to the little shocks you may feel. They are just a natural part of how electricity interacts across different objects. As the weather gets warmer or wetter, the additional static electricity should go down quite a bit.

I hope that explains your issue. Good luck with the rest of the cold season. :)

Yeah... I've never understood the fascination with a woman's breasts or butt.

If you add in T for tits, you can just say you love PETS. ;)
