Guitar Hero I and II had manuals that were designed to look like fake Guitar/Rocker magazines, complete with an interview with a character from the game.
This style of manual (didn't know there was a word for it) was one of the things I loved about the PS2 GTA games, especially SA.
I can recall Assassins Creed's manual was supposed to be a manual for the Animus/Abstergo, with a bit where it mentions what the menu option 'Leave the Animus' and a fake post it note pointing to it going 'Why is this here, before the section in the manual about Entering/Operating the Animus itself?'
I'm really gonna miss Drew as he was definitely one of my favorite members of the crew. He has been with this site for so so long you never thought he would leave, but of course he was never going to stay forever.
It was mostly a time and a place thing, this type of game with a cover system while existing before , it was Gears that perfected it. It was also one of the early multiplayer shooters for the 360 before a Halo game launched, so that helped too.
The PC port of Dead Rising is surprisingly good and I think this game still looks pretty good today. But I wish a bit of a HD texture pass was done for some textures and hopefully mods will be made.
