@SeriouslyNow: Oh I agree that it's totally messed up - apparently if you circumvent ubi customer support and actually either email someone in marketing or sales directly/pick up a phone, they have refunded a few copies that way.

Personally, I find the PC version totally playable and have dealt with much worse PC ports before so am not too bothered. Just feels like I'm playing a higher res version of the 360 game which is enough. At least performance is good, even at the capped FPS. Wish I could turn off the LOD stuff - disappearing trees and shadows really bother me, especially considering I have no performance issues when zoomed out.

Guys, read the linked pic:-

He's upset that Ubisoft lied about the game being Ubi DRM free when it actually isn't.

Problem is, Steam's terms of use does not cover 3rd party DRM. Also, pretty sure the game page had a warning about Ubisoft DRM despite their claims to the contrary.

@akeripper4: Yes. Yes and yes again. I never played the first Witcher (well, attempted to but gave up after 2 or 3 hours) and I ADORED The Witcher 2. Probably my GOTY so far (narrowly beating Portal 2 and Bastion).

If this setting/world and characters even remotely appeal to you, and your rig can handle it, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not grabbing it at that price. The patches they've released so far have vastly improved the initial experience (which wasn't bad, just poorly scaled in terms of difficulty and issues with inventory management) and have even added free new content with more to come.

Considering that the entire second and third acts of the game change vastly depending on who you side with at the end of the first, it also demands repeated playthroughs which lengthens the already reasonable 20 hours or so it took me to beat first time around.

@Spark: Yeah, because of the way it works, I often found myself forgetting that I could fine tune the placement of materials and was playing the game almost exclusively with WASD with clicks to pick up and drop stuff and barely moving the mouse. Feels weird but it gets the job done.

Honestly I haven't had too much trouble with the mouse after unchecking scroll lock from the menu, it's definitely better than with a 360 controller. What I'm confused about is why you can't assign the side mouse buttons to a function in the options menu.

What does the scroll lock do? Is that the reason the camera keeps drifting to the side? I'm not having an awful time with the game, really enjoy the fundamentals, but man, this totally does not control how I would have expected it to.

Patch incoming hopefully... Otherwise damn, that's another Nail in the Ubisoft as a PC developer coffin.

Seems like a huge oversight not to fine tune this.

Downloading right now to see for myself. Hope the performance issues aren't too bad - if I can't get a steady 30FPS at my native res though, I'll be pissed... Modest GPU but it handles nearly all multiplatform games pretty well,

How could you post this story without copy and pasting from a press release, Alex? How?! HOW DID YOU CRACK THE GAME JOURNALISM CODE

Didn't you hear? The game hadn't been announced. THERE WAS NO PRESS RELEASE.

It has already been released in some European countries with its original name. I live in Norway and we got it day one. Looks like non-EU countries have had it all the time. Can anyone from another from a non-EU country confirm this?

It hasn't been released in any European countries because of the copyright issues.

Norway isn't part of Europe.

I assure you Norway is in Europe. I mean look at any map.

It's in Europe but not a part of the European Union politically so different laws apply. It also means that my Norwegian friends have to pay foreign fees at universities in Europe as opposed to the domestic cost all EU citizens (i.e. lower fees) are entitled to.
