I've owned a Wii since 2007, I just finished my first game on the console tonight - Donkey Kong Returns.

Selling games

Do you regularly sell games or perhaps are you thinking about parting with some?

Updated (June 3rd, 2017...who updates a 5 year blog post...?):

No regrets. In fact, I've come to the realization that I'm going to sell more games. I'll keep the classics, but the ones I haven't touched in years are being wasted just sitting on my shelf. Recently sold:

Bayonetta 2 (not sure why I had this game, didn't like the first, never touched this one)

MKX (I have MKXL so this seemed pointless to keep)

Prinny (haven't touched a PSP in 5+ years)

MGS Gameboy (Cool collection piece, never played)

FFVII (Never played)

Conker's Bad Fur Day (I remember buying this for about $35 5 years ago, sold it for $70)

Conker Live and Reloaded (Never Played)

Banjo Kazooie (never played)

Resident Evil Outbreak #1 and #2 (also Code Veronica X) (I like RE, but never will play these games)

FFXV, Blodbourne, Uncharted 4, Black Ops 3, Resident Evil Origins, GTA V, Mario Maker, Watch_Dogs, Quantum Break (cool games, but haven't even been in my collection long enough for me to care about them)

NEVER. I once sold a game I didn't intend to play, and regretted it shortly after. Not doing that again.

Nope not an advertisement - just a personal tale.

I have been collecting games for about eight years now. Over this time I have amassed over five hundred video games for a multitude of platforms. Over the past couple of months I have just completely lost interest in collecting them. My library stocks all of the current generation games so it has been a long time since I have purchased anything new, let alone any retro games. As part of a spring cleaning effort I have even started to sell some of my more valuable games.

Today I made my first sale - I'm using half.com because it ensures I get the money I want rather than what the buyer wants (in no way am I in some of desperation mode to make some quick cash so I am selling all of these on my own terms). It certainly will be a weird moment when I drop it in the mailbox tomorrow. Overall though, I don't feel a sense of loss even if it is my first game than I am parting with.

Do you regularly sell games or perhaps are you thinking about parting with some?

Are you sure you won't regret this? I mean... You are selling games from your 8 year collection.

As for me, I trade in games occasionally. The last game I traded in was Black Ops to Amazon. I got 30 dollars back for it and used the money to score RE5, Bayonetta, and Alan Wake for 10 dollars each. Felt pretty nice.

I sold/traded in pretty much all of my NES, SNES, and Genesis stuff to buy a Dreamcast on launch day. I fucking loved my Dreamcast but I ended up seriously regretting my decision. Haven't sold or traded anything since and I don't plan to either.

I doubt I will ever sell any of my games or consoles, it just never seems worth it.

Stop lying to yourself. You ARE going to regret it. I once heard a story of a man who had an unopened and still factory sealed copy of Metal Gear Solid that he eventually sold. He said it turned out to be the biggest mistake of his life.

Even though he was okay and completely fine with it at hat moment in time, later on he realized he was wrong. Because what was inside of that case was something no one could have predicted... The launch codes for the United States Missile Command and Nuclear Artillery Outpost(USMCNAO). Since the bombs fell, we have been in a state of prolonged sleep for the past three hundred years, and we don't even know it.

Don't make the same mistake he did. Don't endanger the lives of billions.

I sold my ps2 with all its games, as well as my 360 with all it's games. I don't really regret it, because pretty much every game I have any attachment to is available on PC.

Who wants to be Jeff and have two rooms in your house filled with outdated shit you probably won't touch again? I keep some stuff, but I try to get rid of shit regularly.
