I was complaining yesterday about having to use multiple browsers to effectively use different sites. Dave has said before that GB works better in Chrome than Firefox because he uses Chrome. I also prefer Firefox but stick to Chrome for Google Reader and Giant Bomb.

@cwolf267: Do you honestly think your anonymous account and complaint will have any bearing on the staff firing one member and hiring another (who may not even want the job) over one article which you disagree with? Opinions are like what?

@cwolf267: I've not interjected my opinion on this topic but I doubt a thread started by an anonymous account will change the staff's position on Patrick and no doubt they all read his article before it was posted.

@TentPole: And I am Spartacus. Guess what, I didn't like Patrick at first either but I got used to him. I don't agree with everything Jeff, Ryan, Vinny or Brad says nor do I with Patrick but I got used to him and I know where he stands, as with the others. Feels like Patrick hate should have gotten out of this community's system ages ago.

No PS3 so I won't be playing this one but I'll be glad when that uncanny valley giant face is off the front page.

With all that has gone on with 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, my late purchase of KoA would have made little difference in what went down. One purchase out of a million and half more than they were banking on doesn't count for much. Though the demo, for whatever reason, convinced me to not buy it at release. Perhaps it was my mood at the time, financial situation or it just not being a good demo. Now that I've played the game for a number of hours, I find it very enjoyable, both story-wise and gameplay-wise which is the exact opposite of what I felt from playing the demo. I'm having a helluva good time backstabbing dudes and then setting their buddies on fire and cutting them up.

While I would not have picked up the MMO, as I am done with those, it is a shame this game and universe are doomed to oblivion. I cannot fathom how a game that sold well over a million copies was considered a failure. Perhaps the executive side of things expected too much and promised too much to Rhode Island. Perhaps they didn't see WoW 's massive success as an oddity, which is is and will likely never be repeated, even with Blizzards unannounced MMO.

But this has been a recurring theme. The Diablo 3 beta convinced me not to buy Diablo 3, same with Torchlight 2. But KoA has turned out to be an action RPG that I really like. There's depth, beyond loot lust.

They shipped a good game and it is a shame that it will likely be the first and last.

@AhmadMetallic: No 3D but yes, logos, fliers, business cards and other stationery, ads, chamber of commerce maps, forms, books and on and on. Plenty of web design too. My last gig was for a mailshop designing variable data printing mailers and corresponding landing pages. You know, junk mail and yep, I was one of those assholes but the pay, hours and benefits were great and as Bill Hicks assumed, I slept like a log every night, though I wasn't marketing arsenic to babies or at least I don't think so. But if you are in the US and have health insurance, chances are you've received mail that I had a hand in at one point.

@Napalm: I'm in Maine, hardly a metropolitan area but I was fortunate to be on staff for some large companies like Unum. That job I left willingly back in '04, far too large a company for me and I lacked the stomach for the politicking and backstabbing necessary. Honestly I'm just doing mindless grunt work now, it pays the bills and puts food on the table. As BonOrbitz said, the industry isn't what it used to be, largely due to the decline of print. Which is why, apart for the occasional freelance job for someone local, I'm out of it. Thankfully I saved during the good times so I have some long term plans but that is a whole other story.
