3 days to finish Super Mario World when it released on the wii U virtual console (for me, that is a record comparable to the 2013 Tomb Raider, both were a break from 2 years of not really falling into any titles that far).

Looks attractive. I would probably cancel my current pre-order if this is confirmed available. Not like I really need more games at this second, but eventually 2-controllers and a camera are both items I would like.

In some ways it makes me wish I had held out for this bundle. I've had it from the launch day, and the only thing I've really loved playing on it is Super Mario World. >.>

But then it is a weird gadget, so that pretty much explains why its a really neat pieces regardless of its relevance to gaming.

@alexglass: My guess would be 2015, where high-end setups go for 4k as the default, ends up being the "PCs look way better than consoles...." thing again. If this generation lasts for 8 years it will look rather worn out in the back half.

E.g. Some of the less costly LCD manufacturers (Innolux, Chi Mei, etc rather than LG / Samsung) are tooling up 4k toward the end of this year. That said - until a reasonable video card can handle 4k I can definitely see a console purchase being sensible right now in terms of apparent visual quality (frame-rate advantages, faster load times from superior IO, and 2560x1600 on monitors not withstanding).

It was cheaper last year on black Friday, so its hard to get to excited about $200.

The memory cards are still a minimum of 4x above an acceptable cost, so even if I am interested in the device it would be uncomfortable to encourage those sort of practices. Kind of crazy how Sony does the right thing with internal storage on home consoles, but needs to screw up the portable system where it might be arguably more important.

What a lovely conflict of interest. What dumbass would say that one customer's product is better than another in public? Horrible business and no common sense.

Since he is a marketing guy, I'm going to guess he was in the middle of a good conversation on the relative merits of both and kind of forgot the official side of it. It can feel a bit weird in business situations when you are comfortable with the person you are speaking to, but supposed to at least steer away from some topics.

Presumably nothing comes of it, so no harm. The specs for both have been out for awhile, most people will not care unless the more powerful one is getting ported to the lesser and an unplayable frame-rate occurs.

Just another disconnect between people that get games for free and those that have to pay for them.

It is not just that, and it applies for many different goods. Value for money is super variable. A game that can be sub-2 hours and cost twenty dollars, making it premium priced entertainment. It is not far away from me purchasing loose leaf tea that costs a few hundred dollars a pound (relatively expensive), but being personally comfortable with it.

For niche items, if you expect demand to be somewhat inelastic with price, going for the upper end on pricing can make a lot of sense. Gone Home will never sell to a mass audience, even if it is priced at a more typical rate. And reviewers have at least noted game length typically.
