Halo 3 was hands down my GOTY for 2007.  Reach will probably be my GOTY 2010.  I too would like a larger scale and feel to the game.  Piloting Pelicans FTW!!!

I'm going to have to see it to believe it because graphically, Bungie has always prioritized game play and game control over graphical complexity.  I'm not criticizing them for this, it's just that such a remarkable improvement as Keighley describes would be a new direction for the company which I am unconvinced they've taken.  We'll all see for sure by the weekend, but until then I am skeptical.   The rest of what he says sounds like he's buttering them up for future television exclusives denying those opportunities to X-Play.  That's just basic business-related ass kissing.  I don't take it seriously.

I think it says more about the quality of games released this year than the quality of the game itself. ODST was the only game that seemed tonally consistent from start to finish and worked as a sequel by putting a differing spin on a known quantity so it kept me interested all the way through. MW2 is far more fun to play but the story goes through too many highs and lows to make it on par with ODST. If anything, I'd be much more interested in a further sequel seeing the adventures of Buck's team rather than those of Price and Soap. "

First, I agree about that person's stupidity. Second, to all those asking how the download of the beta will work: It will work as it worked in crackdown for the halo 3 beta. You start up ODST and you get the beta off of there. Not positive, but that's what it's sounding like. Third, Halo 3 ODST was a great game. I don't think it's my Game of the Year, as there were so many other superb games, but it's definitely a contender for it.  
  
I also wanted to take a stab at that guy who said they would have to pull a Modern Warfare to really impress. In one way, I am kinda on your side. Modern Warfare made shooters feel rewarding again with their whole reward system in place. Halo needs to overhaul their whole "if you lose you get absolutely nothing with a couple insults to top it off" approach to multiplayer leveling. Now, I also disagree if you mean they have to reinvent their multiplayer. The Halo multiplayer has evolved 2 times thus far and has maybe stumbled a bit, but really shines with halo 3. The graphics are good and the gameplay is balanced and fun. I disagree that Modern Warfare capitalized on that balanced part and hope that Halo: Reach still has the same Halo quality. However, the Modern Warfare 2 vs Halo debate is not something I personally like and won't take a stance on here and now.

It will probably just show up as a game update in the spring, and there will be a "Halo Reach Beta" option in the main menu of ODST.  "

The Halo saga has exponentially gotten worse with each iteration.  I know that's completely subjective, I'm just saying.  Combat Evolved was incredible though, I'll give it that.  I'm not wishing faliure on Reach.  I hope it's Christ-like, but I'm not going to get my hopes up like I did with Gaylo 3.

Is there anything Geoff doesn't think is awesome? He did sell out a long time ago, and is no longer the journalist he once was. Now, it is all about pleasing the developers and publishers so they actually show up on the Bonus Round. 
 
Take this with a grain of salt. It could be amazing, but it definitely seems like what a PR person would say. Of course, if you are a Halo fanboy, anything positive about the franchise you love so much will be met with praise. Now expect the sheep to suddenly think Geoff is this "beztestz" games journalist of all time (by fanboys)
