I rarely buy games second-hand, so it doesn't really effect me all that much. Dead Space 2 dropped down to $25 after a couple of weeks, so why even bother buying it used? But then again, I would never spend $10 to get the "extra" content in most EA games that second-hand buyers supposedly gets left out of. Who here would pay $10 for the Cerberus pass? You didn't get anything even nearly worth $10.

I'm not sure if Project $10 worked like it was supposed to from EA's business point of view. Maybe it didn't since they decided to move the "extra" content to pre-orders only in hope of selling more that way before cutting the price in half just a few weeks later. But all of the EA games probably will continue to carry another DLC code if you bought it new. You can't just pop in the disc anymore and just play. You have to activate and download a bunch of DLC codes in order to get everything.

In 2-3 years, I can definitely see EA taking a few pointers from IKEA in order to cut development costs. Just ship out a bunch of codes and let the consumer put the game together.

No wonder EA tries to get everyone to pre-order their games. Good thing I didn't and can pick this up now for almost nothing. Will keep that in mind from now on.

@BigLemon:  Alright, the PSU is easily good for another rig. The power is well above what you could need for a single card and Corsair makes quality PSUs so it will last for years. The E7400 is not a bad piece of kit either. I don't see any reason to upgrade unless you're interested in the new processors coming.

If you can find the 480 GTX cheap, second-hand, then go for it. But if you plan on buying something from the retailer, I say go with the Geforce 460 or Radeon 6870. Both cards should be around $200 and will be a significant step up.

By the way, Symphony of the Night deserve some sort of special reward for having the prettiest and ugliest cover at the same time, just in different regions.

Of course there will be a major performance leap if you go from the 250 GTS to a 480 GTX, especially if you have the 512mb version. The 250 GTS is a budget card and the 480 GTX is a performance card. But how is the rest of the computer looking? The 250 GTS to 480 GTX is not only a massive leap in performance, but will most certainly bottleneck your computer if the rest was picked to work with a 250 GTS. Lately we've had a lot posts regarding PSU problems for example. Which PSU do you have? Nvidia cards tend to get hot so proper cooling is essential if you haven't invested much in that.

If you post your specs we could probably find a good card for you. $200-250 is actually a lot of money for a graphics card and you might be better off saving those bucks and do a proper upgrade with new motherboard, CPU, PSU and memory.

Well yes I do think they milked it to death. But only in the sense that I think they took everything they could out of the genre before it collapsed. You could say it died off because it was the same thing over and over. But I also think people became bored of the idea of playing the instruments in a video game. It was a thing for a few years but people have moved on to new ones. Same thing will probably happen to motion controls in a few years. Nothing lasts forever.

" You still might be able to save this with your current PSU. Get one of these http://image1.dhgate.com/upload/spider/b/471/158/b_3rx4rv158471_0.jpg if you need another 4-pin. "
Nah, the video card came with one, so I have 2. Computer works fine now. "
Yeah you usually get a bunch of these with the PSU and GPU. If you don't get anything on the screen, it's almost always something do with power.
