First Few Hours Playing Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Now, you might be wondering why I am making a preview for this old game. Well, it's because I just played it a moment ago and I decided to make Game Reviews when I have time to spare. Now this is my first time to make a Game Review so please be gentle.

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale starts with Recette and Tear. Recette's Dad left her because he wants to be a hero (yes, it's on the story...) so Recette is alone at the house. One day, Tear went to her house to collect the payment for his dad's loan. Recette didn't know this so she panicked at first but Tear suggested that she turn the house into an Item Shop. So they did just that and Recettear is the name of the shop because Recette + Tear.

So you can buy stuff from the Merchant's Guild or the Market. You can also hire an Adventurer to go on an adventure with you. When you reach Merchant Level 2 people will come and sell stuff to you, so you can sell it on a higher price! (Woo...!) You level up when you sold enough stuff.

Once you hire an adventurer you go to this place called Hall of Trials. There are other dungeons I believe but since I played this for just a few hours I just reached the 5th floor of the Hall and immediately left. The combat system is real time but I find the lack of "Combo System" disappointing. Well, for me. You can't really launch the enemy into the air and do an aerial combo, it's all in the ground. That's boring for me because all you do is press "Z" and dodge enemy attacks.

Closing this review, I would say that this game is good despite the lack of the Combo System. I believe that I will enjoy it as I play more of it. So thank you guys for reading this review and I'm off to play more "Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale"

What do you get when you combine JRPG and Business Simulation? Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale. Featuring a one-of-a-kind system of bartering and classic, Zelda-esque dungeon crawling mechanics, Recettear is innovative and thoroughly entertaining. Being in debt never has been so fun!  While it starts out like your typical JRPG – waking up after oversleeping and neglecting your newfound responsibilities – you are quickly thrown into starting your item shop.    In this game you play as Recette Lemo...

"Pie-kay!" A Review of the Charming Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale 0

About six and a half years ago, Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale was released for the PC in the US. It had been out for three years prior to that in Japan, meaning the game is ten years old this year. Recettear is a game where you don't play as an adventurer; instead, you play as the proprietor of the item shop those adventurers frequent. I heard about it around the time of release and thought it sounded pretty cool. Some number of years after it came out, I bought it during a Steam sale, kind of ...
