The technically eighth entry in the popular horror series features the return of leading protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield, along with new character Jake Muller, to combat against the latest B.O.W. manufacturer Neo-Umbrella.
It is either HUNK or someone totally new that we have never heard of before. I don't see any reason to ever bring back Steve. He was annoying and then he died. Character arc over.
It's Arnold Schwarzenegger... come with him if you want to live.
9 to 10 it's probably going to be THE character named Hunk, that shadowy bastard they've been dangling through some of these threads. We'll probably finally find out who the hell he is and what his role in things is.
I'm just going to copy what I posted in another thread as to why it ''could'' be Steve and why it definitely isn't HUNK:
Wesker explicitly said that he could ''revive'' Steve, and it was also the only way he was able to obtain the T-Veronica virus to help create Uroborus as well. Whatever Wesker possibly did to him, it could explain why Steve too is also some martial artist maestro; plus that injection he gives himself could be to help keep him in control, so he doesn't ''Ogre out''. Again, I don't think it's HUNK because it just seems weird to elevate him to such a pivotal role, when up until then he would of been nothing but a badass behind a gasmask, with no real allegiances or personality. The only reason people like HUNK is because of his outfit, and while it's true that RE characters aren't exactly rifled with depth and stuff, HUNK is barely even a character at all. It'd be too big of a leap I think.
Also CAPCOM stated that this ''new'' character is related to someone important from the franchise, and that undoubtedly crosses HUNK off.
And even still, putting all this aside, the mystery guy could also just be a completely new character...
Probably Steve, and I hope it's Steve. But I wouldn't put it past Capcom to pull another Krauser, and just make him someone abused/neglected kid that no one happened to know about.

Steve isn't dead; Wesker outright stated that he could ''revive'' him at the end of Code: Veronica X, no doubt for his own nefarious and ginger-hatin' schemes.
@Getz said:
Steve has a Canadian accent
I think that was more to do with his VA and CAPCOM couldn't be bothered giving him an appropriate accent; during Darkside Chronicles, he sounds much more American. I think for all intents and purposes, all the good guys and gals are Americans (well, except Carlos who's from South America--TWIST) because ''FUCK YEAH!''
I don't know WHAT you guys are talking about, it's obviously the guy from the gunshop at the beginning of RE2.
Oh Robert Kendo, the sexual assault charge that was never was. ''Now don't you worry girly, you'll be safe in here. I'm keeping a close eye on things'' Like Holy Hotep, I'd hate to think what would of happened had the zombies not smashed through his window.
I still say it could be Hunk. The image we've seen of him from RE3 looks almost EXACTLY like the guy we see in the trailer.
Sorry about the size, but you can't really see the details of his face in the Medium size. Obviously they look different because they're being rendered on two different platforms, but I'd say there's definitely call for resemblance. PLUS his crack about "I should've stayed a mercenary..." (though that could be a red herring) and it's been pontificated that the reason HUNK is always the sole survivor is because he's immune to the T and G viruses, so the whole "they need my blood for the cure" comment adds up. As for being "related" to someone, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're related by blood, it could just mean he has a past association with them.
@Undeadpool: Your theory about HUNK being immune to the T+G virus, hence why they'd need his blood for a cure, is solid, but it's the hair that really gets to me. He definitely does not have red hair in the RE3 epilogue, that much you can tell, and then there's also the scrapped HUNK skin for Outbreak: File #2 as well, that hackers ripped off of the disc.
He almost looks bald because of the quality, but I'm pretty sure that's the same blonde buzzcut like he has in the epilogue. And HUNK doesn't really strike me as someone who would dye his hair :P
EDIT: Also HUNK really isn't of any importance to anyone, blood-related or otherwise; as I've said before, he's hardly even a character. Steve on the other hand of course is a special person towards Claire. And while she hasn't even been hinted to make an appearance, I think now would be perfect since all of the other major players are getting their due for this generation. Chris, Jill for RE5, and now Leon for RE6. Sure, Claire was on that Mercenaries bollocks for 3DS, but that doesn't count.
For some reason, The new guy's cloth looks like Nemesis (Human form). From the trailer, you can see he is injecting something to himself. I think he is struggling not turning himself to another Nemesis. I remember there is an old Resident Evil game which can let you play as a character in a time limit before he turns into Nemesis. I could be wrong tho. So don't be hate-in'.
I don't see why people would think Capcom would bring back this terrible character. His death is at least very heavily implied at the end of CV:X so they should just take that out and be done with this horrible Leonardo DiCaprio stand-in...
They really should not resurrect weird characters (hint: Wesker). I hope that if this new guy turns out to be Wesker's brother (whom I didn't know even existed until people started picking this trailer apart) then I hope they differentiate him a lot from his sibling. Leave the weird cyborg/clone bullshit to the movies.
I think it's cool they seemed to have brought Ashley back and that "It's my fault" chick intrigues me as well.
After seeing that GT Pop Up analysis, I'm really positively anticipating this game!
