I was pretty disappointed by the box office performance of the Scott Pilgrim movie. I also hate complaining when my favorite movies or shows get canceled, so I decided to try and do something this time and get the word out about the movie's performance. I started a Scott Pilgrim vs The Box Office contest to try and rally people behind #SaveScottPilgrim so that it can stay in theaters and hopefully we can get more movies like it. My goal is to get 400 people to tweet about the contest or join the Facebook page. If that happens, I'm going to give away a copy of the game.

Contest to Save Scott Pilgrim
When i heard how nerdy and quirky and stylish the movie was, it was a day 1 must-see for me.
When i learned that Michael Cera was starring in it, i crossed my fingers on both hands and wished the movie bombs.
Im no particular hater, but that actor is the definition of overrated, and he doesnt deserve the success he has.
No Scott Pilgrim for me. nobody told the director to use that gimp as the movie's star
Everyone not watching the movie because of Michael Cera is narrow minded however the DVD sales will revive the movie.

That's like calling someone narrow minded because you told them about this really good Chinese restaurant but they decided not to go there because they don't like Chinese food.

a better example would be you refuse to go to a mates party cause one of the types of drink they are drinking is a type you hate

Are you telling me that Scott Pilgrim would still be a good movie if someone closed their eyes and ears every time Michael Cera was on screen?
" I am not liking where this thread will lead. A fight between Michael Cera haters and apologists. "I thought the movie was good despite Michael Cera. That awkward nerdy thing is pretty old now.
Of course I think most actors don't really act any how. You just see them play themselves for the most part.
I read your post wrong." @SethPhotopoulos said:

I don't see why many people hate him.
I guess it's his face or something but I feel like the haters are going to say they hated/not gonna watch the movie/this movie sucks because of Michael Cera while the guys that like the movie or Cera will fight them and that never turns out well.
However I know there are people that hate him but love the movie.

It's like he's not Scott Pilgrim, he's just Michael Cera but people call him Scott Pilgrim for some reason.
To be fair that fat guy that seems to be popping up in every comedy movie after The Hangover is starting to get grating too.

Zach Galifinakas (I think I spelled it right.)
Was very different in his standup which does bother me when he plays the idiot in every movie.
Although the one where he's in an insane asylum makes him more like a mentor than a man-child.
Oh, wow...I didn't realize there was such a anti/pro-Cera War going on out there. I liked the kid in Arrested Development, Juno, and Superbad, but he was pretty terrible here in Scott Pilgrim. Maybe I would've felt differently if I haven't read the comics, but he just didn't fit the role. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, on the other hand, was perfect. as Ramona.
Overall, I'm not surprised the movie didn't do too well. It's very much a niche movie...and not particularly a great one at that.
I just really just Edgar Wright to succeed rather than the film. Don't get me wrong, the film is good but Wright is the star of the movie.
Me and 6 mates from uni are planning on going to see it on opening night here in the UK (wednesday).
I'd participate if I had a Twitter account. The movie wasn't the greatest but it deserved to do way better than it did.

Congratulations, you don't even know what Hipster means.
For the record, it is someone who appropriates a culture they don't understand in hopes of making themselves look cooler to other people who don't understand it.
Scott Pilgrim is a movie about a comic written by a guy who lived in a basement and played NES during his childhood.
The movie is directed by a guy who has been wanting to shoot it for years because he is a fan of the comic.
By not seeing this movie you are pretty much fucking over your own people.

What you are describing sounds more like a "poseur".
And the deifinition of "hipster" that Wiki puts forth fits quite well with Boogies statement.
Except for you know.. the "dying" part, that didn't seem to be there.
well the movie didnt do amazing but it did ok. i actually thought the movie was not great. i liked that they took risks and made a different kind of movie. but it draaaaaagggged on and on and on and i was actually yawning towards the end. WHICH I NEVER DO! i love movies. i think they needed to make this an hour and a half instead of 2 hours and it would of been much better. also i looked up the girl that played ramona flowers and was disappointed :( i really liked her in the movie and now i am stuck liking a fictional character because the actress herself is nothing like her. (in terms of appearance)
Me personally I absolutely adored this film, then again I try not to hate everything for some silly reason like I think it'd make me cool or something.
Seriously this movie is doing so bad Edgar Wright is probably going to have to beg the studios to even get another movie, and it's all on the shoulder of people who have silly, petty reasons to not want to go see it.
A great director's career might not survive. Congratulations world, you probably don't deserve his work anyway.
Unfortunately, I think its time to shine will be on home release (and largely amongst Canadians like myself). Already seen it twice in the theatre, I'll keep supporting it!
I'm interested to see how it does opening weekend here in the UK; I get the feeling it'll do really well.
So hey get this I just checked and Scott Pilgrim hasn't made it into the top 10 pirated movies for the past three weeks, or at all.
Maybe it does have a life for it on DVD.
This is what happens when you do good by the nerd audience.
