Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. Like its predecessor, its gameplay combines a traditional role-playing game with elements of a social simulation. Its critical and commercial success spawned a sizable media empire, including several spinoff titles.
Mayonaka tv is the Japanese name for the midnight channel, for those unaware!Seems like Atlus is working on something Persona 4 related. Persona 4 Portable? probably, but I'm holding out hope that its something entirely new. I could live with a P4-2. Or hell, outside the realm of video games. Like....a P4 live action movie(would be funny).
Or a P4 anime.(maybe.) EDIT: What we know: -Page source links back to Sony.JP. Definitely isn't a 3DS title. -It seems something called" the P4A committee" is involved, Persona 4 Anime committee?
The project is called "Persona 4 animation". Its anime, folk. But is it an anime movie or a series?
Persona 4 was my favourite RPG of recent years. I'd love it to be P4-2, but even if it's PS4P that'd be cool too. Also, you should've put Motherboyxxx'ers, just so Arrested Development fans could nod to each other.
Boo if it's an anime retelling or prequel to Persona 4. I already beat Persona 4 and watched someone else play through Persona 4. I don't want to watch Persona 4 again.

Dude that would be awesome, he needs his backstory filled it. If this is an anime it would be the first one I've watched since I was a high school freshman.
As someone who has not played P4, and whose backwards compatible PS3 does not work well (and has no PS2), I'd love a P4P.
But I'd also love a Persona 4-2.
Now is when I need to pitch my idea for a P4-2 to Atlus.
This time, you play as Funky Student (voiced by Ice Cube) as he travels across Japan alongside the crew from P4 (mainly Kanji, Chie, and Yosuke), and the newly voiced Mysterious Fox (who now goes by Funky Fox (or FF), and is voiced by Ice T (also, his only lines are stuff like "yip")) as they solve mysteries and stuff.

I emerge from my Persona 3 Portable Manic complete run marathon session to this news? Can't be a coincidence.
I think it will be Persona 4 3DS. If it is, I bet that there will not be a new female protagonist route but instead additional bonus content for the original game (that doesn't involve new main story hooks or anything like that) as well as a completely faithful adaptation with 3D effects.
Adachi's backstory would only be interesting if presented in the form of a social link. Actually, any of the character's stories would be boring unless they were presented in social link style.
Persona 4 Portable with new girl protagonist and new Social Links including Jeffrey and Vincent social links. Get on it!
@mutha3: Atlus was in the process of acquiring Sting, I thought that went through but then with Atlus's holding company stepping out front I'm not sure. But they are basically just another studio for Atlus at this point. As for Radiant Historia, I'm talking about games coming out in Japan. Radiant Historia came out last November in Japan. I mean its questionable if P2 will come out in the US this year.

Its a bit of a stretch to consider sting titles the same as Atlus' though! you might as well include all the game Atlus publishes if ya do that:PAnd you forgot Radiant Historia(shame on you). "
My moneys on P4:P. It makes the most sense. I'd love to see a proper sequal, but the explosion in the community if there's no ER will be horrible to live through.
@mutha3: I had a look at the source code. Can't find anything conclusive. Tried to download and take apart the flash file but I can't seem to get it to download it. One of the js files is 'sony.co.jp' and there are links to sites like http://www.persona-ts.net/
I don't want a P4P (unless it's for the 3DS and, even then, I don't want it to turn out like crap in the presentation department like P3P). I don't want a P4-2 at all. I definitely don't want a P4 live action movie or anime. Still, it's interesting.

The abbreviation here is P4A, though. It at least, probably isn't a PSP port.

Hm..? Why does a sequel sound less appealing than a 3DS port to you?
Also it seems like whoever filmed the footage for that "Do you know Mayonaka TV?" video was also responsible for the live action Catherine commercials in Japan (the ones where they interview single people and couples) Does anyone have youtube links to them so people can see how similar they are in terms of camerawork?
For the people that want a sequel over a remake, in what way would a sequel be possible? All of the threads are tied up at the end of the game, and they don't leave any room for something like P3 FES's "The Answer" (which was terrible, by the way.)
@mutha3: Because I don't want a direct sequel to Persona 4. I think the story was good enough on its own and it would just feel weird to revisit the same characters and locations that you got to know in the first one and left in the end of the game.

They could easily just make up a new conflict but bring back the same characters. If they were gonna do it, they could do it.
I don't think they will. It's not Atlus's style. They might do a portable version for PSP or 3DS, but the next full Persona will be a completely new game.
