A dog is an animal, of which there are estimated to be 400 million of in the world. Said to be man's best friend, they naturally appear in many video games.
Dragons were originally messengers from heaven, according to early Buddhist texts. In games, they can be among the most fearsome of adversaries, but there are some exceptions.
A headless horseman of Irish folklore. It is said to carry its own severed head, bearing a mischievous grin that reaches from one side of the face to the other.
Dwarves are a short, stout race that appear in any number of fantasy games and stories. They are almost always depicted as short with bushy beards similar to vikings. They can also be identified by their love for ale and gold. Other common trends for Fantasy Dwarves include being proud warriors, favoring axes as their weapon of choice, and being gruff sticklers for tradition and honor.
Elves are a race found in a lot of games based on a fantasy setting. They are recognizable by their elongated ears and often live much longer than humans. Some are even immortal. There are many variations of Elves.
When the main character at some point has to escape from a confined area, be it a dungeon, a prison cell, or a penal colony.
Experience Points are part of a character advancement system commonly found in RPGs. These points are generally gained by defeating an enemy or completing a task.
A powerful release of energy. This energy is usually expelled in all directions very quickly, typically giving off orange or red flames.
Scarring over the eye. Used by game developers to make a character appear more rugged and 'badass'.
Fairies appear in many games, usually as a race that will assist players with magic. Fairies are almost exclusively female.

A characteristic many game characters share when their eyes emit a colored light instead of what a regular eye should look like. This is often evident in robots and characters possessed by some evil force.
Goblins are irritable, evil and mischievous creatures in folklore. They can range in size from halfling to average human size.

Grid-based movement limits players, and other entities in a game, to moving through the game world in increments of whole squares on a grid. It has been a common staple of turn-based strategy games since the earliest board games of antiquity. It was also used by early RPGs.
Guards guard stuff, block doors, and sometimes arrest you.
A character type found in RPGs, MMOs, and class based Multiplayer games that focuses on keeping friendly characters alive. Their general role is to heal/buff and resurrect fallen allies.
More effective than any hospital. These games let you heal damage; ranging from a black eye to a gunshot wound, just by having a snack.
Health is a value that gauges how much damage players can take in a game before they die or pass out. Also known as life in some games. Health is usually represented by a bar or a percentage instead of an exact amount. Found in most non sport games

Hidden characters appear only when certain conditions are met. Finding them usually requires great skill.
An numeral indication of how much damage a character can sustain. The loss of all hit points results in the death of the character or another penalty.
