I'm enjoying this ER, and am not one to correct how they're playing, but the comment by Ryan of "So far this game has never presented us with a combat scenario that you couldn't think your way out of...it didn't have to be all brute force" made me chuckle.

Extra input is always good, but sometimes he takes it a little too far. Not all the time, but there have been a few episodes where I thought to myself, if I was controlling the game, and had him yapping like that, I'd want to punch him..

Now imagine the raging neckbeards on this forum breathing down their necks for missing a chest or not doing something perfectly.

The only thing worse than seeing the same complaints repeated ad-nauseam and seeing Patrick and Ryan fail at basic reading comprehension is seeing the same retarded strawman get trotted out over and over again.

He is correct, except maybe for one boss battle or two. I love this and other old SNES JRPGs, but the gameplay feels outdated even for me.

I would say they have been employing brute force pretty much consistently and rarely thinking their way out of combat scenarios. Which is why so many fights that are typically not that hard have been difficult for them. Although I do agree, the fact that you can succeed that way definitely shows that CT is extremely forgiving.

Whaaat? That is terribly named. They've never going to use that. Nobody uses status moves, they're icky. Also yeah, they're not reading any comments. Except that one time people spammed their twits, but it was necessary, I guess.

@ll_Exile_ll: It's not that. It's just like five seconds into the clip it starts buffering, after a while the clip starts to play for another 5-10 seconds and then it starts to buffer again, even on 360p.

The problem is only on youtube and no other site is slow to load. But i haven't seen anyone else mentoin it so i guess it's something to do with my internet?

it would have been great if, right after the thing told you not to fall and ryan fell, a text box came up and said "WHAT DID I JUST FINISH TELLING YOU!". not a jab at ryan at all, just saying it would have been great if they had put that in the game

I guess...maybe I am just saying that their way of "thinking" their way out of a combat scenario (attack this thing first and load up Bobo and heal) isn't really thinking that hard. I would say thinking their way out of combat scenarios would be using new techs and dual techs and seeing how they work. They make it seem like beating that dude underground is all about brute force when really they're just using techs that are outdated at this point. In other words, they spend time after losses trying to figure out why they lost, but they don't really sit and think outside of the box at all. They just look for new ways to employ brute force. Just my opinion.

Not much of a spoiler at this point, but yeah they are kind of in the end game. Everything from now until Lavos is sidequest stuff. There's a few hours and probably a lot of episodes left since some of those quests are pretty esoteric.

I can't say if it is just you or not. I am lucky enough to extremely fast internet so everything I watch on any site buffers almost instantly in HD. What you say is odd though, when I was in college my connection was really, really slow, and the only site I could watch without buffering was youtube.

No. Not really. I believe most HP in this game maxes out in the 50-60 level range.

They just have a +50% HP item on Bobo, who already has the highest HP in the game.

I'm not going to say, but they're in your list. I do know it comes up while you're doing one of the other side quests, though.

Wait, you can actually fail that? That.....seems oddly dark for this game. Then again, CT is full of surprises.

Does the Sightscope actually work on bosses? I haven't played this in forever, but I think there were some Square RPGs that wouldn't let you check the HP of its bosses.

The reason your current group has the most Dual Techs together is because they've been together the longest. You only learn new dual techs when you actually have the two members in a fight.

They DO think, its just that they're not very good at it. :P

I can't really blame them (too much) for this one. Ok, missing Cure Wave after reading it a few minutes earlier is pretty dumb but not even in the top 3 dumbest things they've done so far this ER.

I can forgive them for not using Confuse because it's a poorly named Tech and the game has taught them that status effects don't work on bosses. Still, I don't think they've ever tried it to find out that it's more than it seems.

Also, this is one of the hardest fights in the game unless you know what you're doing because of how hard and how often he hits. Also the best strategy in this fight is kind of counter-intuitive (keep the center alive with non-water magic because as long as the center lives, the lowered defense from water doesn't reset).

@Calavero said:

Hard to blame them - I'd say this is one of the harder bosses in the game, especially if you tackle it first. But they do need to look into other physical techs. Confuse for Brono, Uzzi Punch for Robo all do a ton more damage than Spincut.

Halfway in today's..
1: They're still missing so much and we're getting to the end, lol guess it never mattered. Duals, triples, how items work, etc. This was always an easy game.
2: "I want to do some sidequests" YESSSSS. They may miss some, but damn I'm glad they'll hit up what they can.
3: Oh god please don't get stuck on the old man's mistranslated line, lol.
