Endurance Run: Persona 4 - Part 44

Ryanbomber: I'm coming across that way because I'm always telling Vinny what to do. But I'm only doing that because, time and time again, Vinny gets the basics wrong or does something that clearly isn't very bright.

I'm no pro P4 player - I'm average. If you want to see the pros, go on Youtiube and look at the personas some of the guys who play on hard mode use. I've never even gone near hard mode, and I still, even after playing P3 + P4 wouldn't be able to tell you what would result from fusing personas of different arcana together.

My knowledge is that of an average player, gained through experience and reading the tips of others on forums. There's nothing in-depth or complicated about any advice I give. And that's exactly why I get so annoyed when, even though Vinny and Jeff have their very own fanclub giving them helpful advice, they ignore it and act like retards.

Am I better than Vinny at P4? Yes - that isn't difficult. Am I better than most other players? No, there are some people who play the games for 100's of hours, getting and doing everything.

Anyway. You're correct about chest keys - I ran out in the 6th dungeon, which was annoying when the chests in that dungeon contain awesome armour that adds +5 to every stat. On every floor there seemed to be 2 locked chests, and very few normal chests to get chest keys from. So yeah, getting chest keys from gold hands is important.

But getting money is also important. It's very hard to get money in P4 until the end, when you can do the Mr. Pringle trick. And even then, you have to leave your PS2 on all night just to make a few million yen. Vinny isn't going to go out of his way to fuse the best personas, but he will need money to buy stuff if he keeps wasting it like he did in the previous episode.

In case the impossible happens and Vinny/Jeff reads this, here's a tip: When Charlie runs out of SP, remove everyone from your party, equip Sarasvati, go to floor 1 of Yukiko's dungeon, attack an enemy, get the enemies number down to 1, guard and then keep hitting 'X' whilst doing something else. You'll regain 5 SP per turn and the enemy will only do 1 damage per turn to you. You'll max out your SP within a few minutes.

Can we somehow ban Aion? Mofo can't stop being a douche.

Hopefully next endurance run they won't play a JRPG. That way there won't be so many anime jerks leaving comments about how they're playing it wrong because they're not following a guide. They're not trying to go for 100% or anything, they're just doing these for fun. For the site's entertainment. When they have to start following a guide to do this or that, that's when the fun gets sucked out.

And I apologize to the people who are kind and leaving friendly advice, rather than angry advice ;)

We totally need a boring endurance run with Aion.

Like others have mentioned before, enemies that have no weakness like the tigers are susceptible to ailments such as confuse. That is why skull cracker is consistently confusing them. Also, try and use sonic punch with Yosuke, it has a pretty good chance of knocking them over.

Man, Vinny your memory is shockingly bad. As a suggestion, maybe before you start recording, just have a quick look at your personas to see what moves they have and their stats. You were using a dude that was more physical than magical when casting.

From my perspective, what's entertaining about this run are the witty comments made during social link/story scenes and the boss fights. Seeing them take ages, doing a lot wrong, against normal enemies whilst climbing the foors of dungeons isn't. I want those sections out of the way ASAP myself.

By ze way, I love how it seems like everyone who has played P4 knows I'm right and everyone who hasn't, or is bad at the game, jumps on me, being immature and using names and w/e. If this is going to continue, this run will be far more entertaining for me during the dull sections.

Boy.... That Aion guy seems like quite the elitist prick.

Every day I hope Vinny and Jeff DON'T read whatever Aion has to say, so they can play badly, so they can quit Persona 4, so they can move onto another game, so I don't have to read Aion's messages every single day.

Everything would be so much better.

Evidently Persona 4 is some sort of video game. So it has no bearing on life. Chill yo!

I played P4 enough to get a 100% compendium, Aion, and I know the tone you take with the guys is dead wrong.  Plenty of other posters give them helpful advice without being a dick and calling Jeff & Vinny names.

It's really a matter of tact. Do you think Vinny and Jeff are more or less likely to read the comments when they're being insulted time and time again? Your advice is good, your tone is just hurting your argument.

I love EVERYTHING about the endurance run, except that vinnie REALLY needs to learn how to use the damn camera in this game!

What does it matter if I call a stupid person stupid? They don't even read the comments. If they did, I'd show them more respect.

In all honesty, most of the time I call people stupid without putting a great deal of thought into it. I certainly don't mean to hurt their feelings because they play a game badly. It's just how I express myself - aggressively.

Just in case Vinny or Jeff do read this: As bad as you are at P4, I don't think you're stupid or have slight cases of mental retardation when not playing the game. My comments are about how you play P4; not the people who exist away from this run.

Super funny observation: If they had killed that gold hand guy and gotten the 3000 yen from it, they would have been able to afford Fox's healing. Don't listen to Jeff, Vinny, do your own thing!

They do read the comments, that's why you often hear Vinny saying "someone in the comments was saying yadda yadda yadda." The truth is that it's hard to remember hundreds of pieces of advice a day, so the bits they remember are pretty random.

Even if they didn't read the comments, I would totally understand that. They've had the game completely spoiled by a few comments.

Man this Aion person is a dick, why can't he/she just enjoy this run for what it is. A constant stream of excellent commentary, and not a professional run.

The camera control is not crappy.  You can make the camera go exactly where it needs to with the right stick.

Just a helpful pointer here about allies taking a mortal blow for you. They will only do it if you are attacked by a single target attack. So if the enemy uses an attack like rampage when you are low on health, you are on your own.

Over half an hour till Sarasvati made an appearance...

They really need to have her restoring Charlie's SP since the Fox is way too expensive and they never buy any TaP sodas.

after suffering from bad allergies and a frustrating hour of motorstorm, endurance run makes it all better.

Wow, that tiger threw all it's money away...Wait, whats it doing with money on it....

The GTFO bit was classic, and it's cool they learned right at the end how expensive the fox is until you raise his S.Link a lot higher.  Looked like they have 12 TaPs which is pretty good and more than I thought they had.

Another great episode. Jeff reactions to Vinny's failure on hitting the shadows was hilarious. specially the one in 31:35. Pure Gold!

Read the comments so I myself have something to say on this subject:

Regarding the Aion vs Everyone else: Everyone else, if you do not want Aion to continue to write comments don't reply to his comments in any way (like I am doing right now). Aion: give your advices in a more calmer non-controversial and offending way.

Regarding advices: The Invigo thing seems nice and you should use it, but at first i thought it would affect all your party and not only Charlie. That's kinda of a bummer. Regular Physical attacks seems to work rather well in some enemies, especially when it's Chie (she sometimes uses those special moves or something). And maybe give the "lame" spells a chance. By "lame" I mean the kundas (dakunda, makunda, trakunda and so on). Confusion and silence seem the best ones (and you dont have to continue to wait for chie to do the skull cracker).

That's about it. Keep the great work Jeff and Vinny. There's just one negative aspect of Endurance Run. Those dam shallow weekends (real weekend I say). Why don't you do some episodes for the weekend too hem??

There is a mini boss behind that door but it's shouldn't be as hard as the knight in the castle. You could use a bunch of debuff spells against it OR just go at it with EVERYTHING YOU GOT!

I'm getting double the entertainment from this now.  While it loads I just read the comments and laugh at the latest flamewar :)

They do read the comments. They've acknowledged comments that they've read. And if you think they don't read the comments, why are you trying to tell them how to play anyway?

The only evidence that they read comments so far is when they asked for help (Senri/Slime), when they read about the weapon for Yosuke (same time as they read the boss advice) and in this episode when Vinny went straight for a Vanish Ball. Aside from that, Vinny either reads and forgets or he's read little to nothing.

At best they randomly skim the comments, ignoring most of what's posted. If they bothered reading in full, they'd know all about gold hands by now (they're still clueless now!)  and how useful buffs/debuffs are. Hell, it took them until one of the last episodes to finally come to the realization that their Jack Frost has Zio - this after they'd seemingly ignored an endless stream of comments aimed at them pointing this fact out for weeks.

Anyway, this arguing has been more entertaining than watching Vinny fail of late. I wouldn't call it a flame war when I'm yet to "flame" anyone aside from Vinny/Jeff, but whatever. 

Edit: They also learnt about TAP Sodas when they asked for help about the first boss.

Keep doing what you're doing guys, don't listen to all these crazy angry dudes on here.

It's not worthwhile for them to read every single comment on the videos. So yes, they do skim through the comments. When I have useful advice, I post it on Jeff and Vinny's walls. Better chance of it actually being read.

And due to the way the episodes are recorded, they're often doing things well before any comments are posted. They can't follow advice that hasn't been given yet.

Jeff and Vinny don't react to the advice after each episode because they don't do the Endurance Run as a daily event. They film multiple episodes, then release one a day. So a comment on Tuesday giving them advice about what to do on Wednesday isn't going to do much good when they filmed it all on Monday. They aren't ignoring it, they're just not able to travel through time to read our comments between episodes.

Also, it's easy for us to remember something when it happened a day ago, but to them it happened a week ago as part of a 3-4 hour stint. Things tend to blur.

Then why do they say, "Hey, it's Monday-Friday!" on their videos? It's a bit silly if they record 2-3 videos in one sitting. I must admit to finding it odd in the past when they restarted from the same point they ended, without saving, but they said they'd left their PS2 on all night one of the times.

Whenever they say that, they're kidding around. Haven't you ever noticed that they often don't know what day it is, and say to come back tomorrow on Fridays?

Yes. I also noticed once that Vinny slipped up, saying it was Friday on Monday and needing Jeff to tidy up, saying Vinny meant it was Friday in-game.

But, if they are recording 2-3 episodes at once, they're doing it to trick people into thinking its a daily activity when it really isn't. There's no joke in them lying about when they film stuff.

I think they did clarify on the Bombcast how they record it. They're not trying to hide that fact.

The whole point of the endurance run is that they make mistakes. What the hell am I saying!? They're NOT making mistakes, they're playing a video game for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES.

If it pisses you off so much that they are playing completely wrong and if you are THAT much of an elitist, then don't watch/comment on the videos! Jeez!
