Quick Look: EX: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

There is so much animation in this game.

@NAQ: @Ares42: I pay for a subscription, which I consider a way to support GB, plus get rid of the ads and access some extra stuff.

Please do NOT make me look at my subscription as only paying for the subscriber-only stuff, because in that case I need my money back at the very least since they moved office. The amount of subscriber-only media they've put out is tiny.

So yeah, watching QLs or any other video here is something I feel is a return for my money, and yeah, I don't feel QLEX´s are the best return for that money.

Looks pretty neat. Now if they could only tackle a Beast Wars game...

If someone asked me to make a Transformers game, my first thought would not be "third-person shooter."

@NoelVeiga: worth noting that neither Jeff nor Ryan have access to neither this game nor the developer menu. It's a shame that you actually get to see this much of the game, isn't it? :'(

Looks cool but my game for August is Darksiders 2

Looks great in a 8/10 way but that is kind of my problem with high moon games. They are always solid but nothing outstanding which makes me worried for Deadpool

PR speak killed this QL for me. I dunno if these are actually quick looks with the developer shilling so hard. It feels different when these Transformer comes by to when double fine comes by or Brad Muir sits down and plays Magic, thats cool.

Looks pretty fun. I bought War for Cybertron from Steam on sale and it is fun. They seem like they fixed a lot of the problems that I noticed playing it for the little bit I did so far.

I can see this being a really solid game.

I tried getting into War for Cybertron and just could not get into this.

Although, my friend swears it's great.

No, but it's boring that I have to hear a designer of the game do a PR speech about it for half an hour over the video. Incidentally, I get to see this much of the game elsewhere, where I go for my gaming promotional material. I don't give those people any money, though.

I give the money to GB to be entertained, not hyped up or even informed. I want Patrick to write about in-depth stuff, not split-second news (which he does) and I want the rest of the team to fumble their way around games and dig up weird stuff to talk over it, which they're not doing to my satisfaction.

I could not care less about Transformers, or about any other game they play, really. I play those games myself when they come out if I feel like it. I come here because the guys are funny, witty, entertaining and have great rapport. For previews there are a ton of other free sites out there.

But hey, that's just my opinion. Which I'm voicing in the "voice your opinion" part of the site. I feel pretty OK about that, because, I don't know if I've mentioned this, but I pay these guys money. Feel free to disagree. In fact, I wouldn't even have spoken about it for this long if not for the people being snarky and aggressive about some people being critical of the site. I refuse to be labelled a whiner for providing what I consider to be fairly constructive comments, though.

Also, who cares about the dev menu? For all I can tell they were using it to jump to checkpoints and give themselves god mode and unlimited money. Hardly riveting internet, that.

This guy is very practiced in his PR speak. 
 
I don't know if I liked the demo for this game and some of the stuff in this video looks a little unfinished. Combined with the whole "I am trying to describe a very standard genre trope as if it was new and exciting" from this guy...

Actually looks pretty slick and the PR guy seemed like a solid duder.

I hate wearing socks.

Tried the demo, went through the first mission and then died a bunch on the second. After a handful of times I turned the power off. As cool as this Quick Look Ex was that killed my interest flat. Maybe I'll pick it up around Christmas for funsies.

After watching this, I'm even more "in" than I was before, which I didn't think was possible.

I already answered this like three posts ago: I watched it because at that point it was one of two videos released in the last 24 hours. There was nothing else to watch on the site. That's why I pointed out that I pay for the site, so I like to watch something on it daily, and I'm disappointed when a day goes by without something I enjoy coming out.

The more important question is, why do you feel compelled to chime in here? Again, as I said before, that's the original comment I made, and I only made it to show agreement to the first guy that said it. Since then I've answered to half a dozen people with snarky comments about how I should "not watch it", "go away" or "stop whining".

What compels you guys to come to the brave defense of the site just because a single person presents a mild complaint? I'm pretty sure that these guys have heard a lot worse than "Hey, I like it more when you put out this thing instead of this other thing" or "I'd like more of this stuff that I like".

Plus, the only thing you're doing is making me respond, which makes it seem like there's a ton of people complaining about the video, when it's just me and a couple of others. Were you guys willing to let it go and just accept that some people don't like some things, my original post would have been buried in page four right now and nobody would care, other than perhaps somebody in the staff going "Note to self: some people don't like QLEXs. Moving on". Which is what I was trying to accomplish.

Yeah it was really the only thing that bothered me about the quicklook. I'm sure he loves his game and all, but I wish that he had been a bit less "PR" about some things. The right bumper is a different skill for each character, you don't have to give me the sell about your thought process and why it was a good idea, I've played videogames before, I get it.

For the record I am not opposed to the QL EX format, or even this QL EX in particular.

I always love stuff like that. If a developer wants me to love them, they open the doors wide on development.

war for cybertron was pretty damn good, the multiplayer was more fun than i have ever had in "near future military shooter game X".

probably gonna get it for pc
