Playdate: GBE Megadate (04/15/2016)

As much as I loved Witcher 3 I thought that the leveling up and progression system was awful and one of the worst in any rpg I've played. It was completely unsatisfying

Damn, I wasn't planning on going back to Witcher 3 anytime soon but Vinny completely sold me on the DLC. Gonna play this as soon as I beat Dark Souls 3.

This made me really want to get back into Witcher 3, thanks guys this was an awesome playdate.

@vinny I'm wondering if you've checked out any modded Minecraft, specifically so-called "technology" mods?

I've only dipped a toe in myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if Factorio had been partially inspired by that stuff -- there are literally dozens of mods centered around building factories and automatic processing pipelines.

Umm... this video has been an exercise in frustration. I think I'll have to try to watch it another time. Seems like it would be pretty good otherwise.

What's with the video player of late?

Seeing Vinny enjoy The Witcher 3 makes me so happy. This may sound crazy, but I really believe that that game is one of the best ever, and this DLC is easily my favorite ever. I have never had a game affect me so much, and the story through Hearts of Stone is equal parts hilarious, touching, surprising, and emotional. There are so many moments that made me happy to be a fan of video games. I couldnt recommend it enough to anyone who even had the slightest interest. Do yourself a favor. I am gonna go start another 100 hour playthrough right now.

I just went back to The Witcher 3 after not playing in 3 months and it wasn't hard at all :| People are really hyperbolic about "how hard" it is to level up and everything.

@dryker: Try the HTML5 player, works like a charm here.

Running towards the camera sequences are my absolute least favorite things in games. It's a bummer they decided to put that in a Ratchet and Clank game

Cool Playdate, just like always. Certainly wouldn't mind seeing some more Factorio in the future.

Also The Witcher 3 is still the best.

Man that Witcher dlc looks great. I've bounced off that game hard 3 times now but I'm gonna give it another shot once I finish DS3.

@alex: Check out Landsknechts and their armor. Trust me, Witcher's equipment design is on point.

After watching this, I just want to watch Vinny play more Factorio. He really only did a cursory overview of his current setup, would love to see him work through some of the logistics and his thought process on layouts in real time.

Also, having Alex and Austin comment or even join in on a playthrough with their limited exposure would be great, almost like a follow up to the Project B.E.A.S.T. series.

I was tight on gold until I got to Novigrad. now I have like over 9000 gold. Not sure why. oh, it's because i sold all the weapons i picked up if they were worse than my current stuff.

I finally got back to this video, and you are totally right. I thought I was preset to HTML from years back, but I guess not. Thanks for the tip.

The preset has never really been consistent on GB. It always defaults me to the Progressive player and I have to manually pick the HTML5 player. So never trust the default mode on the player :)

Alex - I just got that was a Trading Places reference! Nice.
