There are some great games that I just don't feel the need to ever play -- this is one of them.

This looks really awesome for people that like this retro style, like Jeff for instance, I just don't know if I have that same deep rooted love for the past.

I am not a person that throws myself över every Metroid-like game BUT I love this game. I have been playing it for review the last couple of 3 weeks. It has awakened a item collector in me that I thought was kind of gone. Axiom Verge is without doubt one of the best games I played this past year. It deserves all it's praise. It's a superfun and interesting take on the subgenre it's inspired bu and looks and sounds great. If this looks even slightly cool to you you should buy it.

I've had my eyes on it since last E3 and during the Playstation Experience I got convinced that Happ had something really special going on. Turned out I was right.

I've searched all over, but I cannot for the life of me find either a release date or distribution platform on PC! There's no page for it up on steam and even the AV website doesn't acknowledge any date or service to buy it on.

WHERE DO I BUY MY COPY?!

I watched an interview with the developer (think it was a Lobby on GameSpot). He said the game is definitely planned for PC, and was originally intended to hit PC first, but Sony got to him, offered some help to bring it to PS4, but that turned into something of a "time exclusive" situation. That's my understanding, anyway.

Am I the only one seeing this?

I knew there would be some sort of glitch thing in here as soon as Jeff gave it five stars. I'm not a Metroidvania guy, but this game does look cool.

I think I should just play Metroid Fusion again. It's a shame that Axiom Verge's graphics aren't on par with Metroid Fusion.

@beachthunder: Metroid Fusion is probably my favorite handheld game of all time. Played it so many times on my SP during vacations and stuff.

Pretty sure I'll grab this. I REALLY love this 2d style of game.

But man, that forced retro art is really unappealing. And that protagonist looks fucking stupid. But hey, I loved Darksiders and that game had an unappealing art style and characters that I hated.

I want to get this, but it wouldn't get played for a while. Still playing through Borderlands and Bloodborne.

Between this, Helldivers, OlliOlli 2, and Bloodborne, PS4s had a good month.

My nostalgia in video games comes from N64, PS1 and PS2 era stuff, when are people going to make games with those style graphics :P.

Such a great comprehensive breakdown of what this game is in the quick look. Jeff's understanding of not just Axiom verge, but also the metroidvania genre, is complemented by Brad's line of questioning and makes for a really enjoyable and informative video. Some talk of late of 'the future of reviews' and content like this make a strong case for it looking like this in some form.

Damn those powers and guns on Jeff's save looked like a ton of fun.

Hoping now this game exists and apparently is really good people will stop complaining

Looks fantastic, shame you have to get it through PSN, they always put up games super late. I like to buy games in the morning and have them be all downloaded when I get home but since PSN games go up at like 3 PM it's not really viable like it is on One. Well, unless they do preloading now? If they did so for this game that'd be lovely.

Other than the the low-HP sound that gives me a headache, this looks spectacular.

I just noticed that Brad says he's "only one hour in" a lot. Please give him a Dota intervention. He's a good video game man taken from us by Valve.

Also, I'm not sure what I expected from Axiom, but now I'm much more interested in a new console.

I would agree that it is probably a matter of taste, but as someone that didn't grow up with an NES or SNES Ori is waaaaaay more appealing to me. This looks neat though.

Looking to be a really good year for Metroidvanias so far. This year will there need to be a Metroidvania of the year category too? It seems like Jeff and Brad might already be facing off their picks with Axiom vs Ori.

Gee, it seems like I say this most years recently, but it's been quite a year for Metroidvania games, hasn't it? Like three or four games that came out this past three months or so that have this 2D side-scrolling free-roam chic all look pretty awesome for fairly different reasons. Like, good goin, y'all.

will have to get this for the pc when it comes out. Though I am more of a fan of games with proper platforming [loving castle in the darkness at the moment] this looks really good, some nice ideas.
