you are the only one making an ass out of themselvs for not accepting someones opinion, i never said MW2 was superior, i prefer it over BC2, sorry that you are so fucking butthurt over my comment maybe you should log off the internet if you cannot accept peoples opinions kid

@Seppli: Where did I EVER claim to have played BC2?????

I said multiple times that my opinion was based off of this QL and that it was Subject TO CHANGE upon playing the beta myself. However, I think Jeff gives a pretty accurate depiction of how the game would play for someone new to the series.

BC2 as even you've described is about an entire TEAM, and if people don't know their job then the game turns to crap fast. As even you've recommended "leave the server" asap.

The harrier and AC130 can easily be avoided by just going indoors. Simple as that.

It's obvious that you're way into BC2. That's fine, I've said multiple times that I understand what BC2 is trying to do and how people COULD enjoy it. I just don't think I PERSONALLY would enjoy it as much as MW2.

And you're entire long winded rant has done nothing but confirm even moreso that this game is not as balanced as MW2.

Any game that REQUIRES a team that knows the inner workings of the gameplay to have fun is going about it at the wrong angle. If this was a PC only game, I could understand it but for a console game you have to take into account the fact that there will be noobs playing. I don't want to feel as if as soon as I join a game and realize it's noobs that I HAVE to leave.

That's where MW2's balance comes into play. I suppose it's as simple as, if you don't have vehicles in MP it makes it easier to balance things out.

Either way, both of these are just our opinions. I find it funny how BC2 fans get so worked up to try and PROVE that it's superior to MW2. Why can't they both be good games?

Just because it's run and gun simpleminded action, doesn't make it more balanced. In fact, many might argue that the killstreaks unbalance the game to the point, that a single lucky bastard can swing a whole game around with killstreak combos. That's the exact opposite of good balance.

Just don't comment on a game's balance without having played it. Rubs me the wrong way.

Dear GiantBomb,

Please don't ever let Jeff play another FPS game with hopes to show it off. And, please do another quick look with this game with someone who's actually a fan of the battefield series, and who's good at it.

Thanks.

Jeff is a fan of the Battlefield series. I mean, this happens to me too, when he turns on the recording device he just starts to suck. It's a combination of stress and having to focus on both discussing the game and playing it. That's why the giantbomb eds suck in every gameplay demo, and why the developing studios like IW can put out ingame trailers of really pro players. Remember, Jeff has been playing video games since the Atari, he's oldschool man. Look to Brad if you want to see an editor consistently pull a Brad.

Also, to the people saying tanks are OP... well, they definitely do massive damage. But they can easily be destroyed with any amount of teamwork. A spec ops soldier just has to shoot a tracer onto the tank, then every demolitions guy on the map just points their rocket launchers at the direction of the tank and it's finished. Problem is, matchmaking pubbies are retarded. Hopefully, PC version will be filled with dedicated and team oriented public server goers.

" I've always enjoyed the BC series, so it's disappointing to see it slagged so often by people who clearly don't understand it.   It's not Modern Warfare. It's not even "Modern Warfare with vehicles"--which doesn't even make sense, btw. It's a game of deferred gratification! Modern Warfare is like being hooked up to an IV of fun. Drip drip drip. Battlefield is like shooting up with an illegal fun drug. When it's good it hits you in the face like the red hot blast of a jet engine. Then you come down and spend the next hour rolled up in a ball and crying. This quick look is, if anything, a good illustration of the withdrawal phase: running around a lot, getting smacked around by vehicles and generally sucking it up. There's another side to the coin, but you'll only see it if you're willing to wait. And it is so good.   BTW Battlefield 2 collection is half off today on steam. "
I disagree. There comes a point in the game where you're just so much better than the noobs that you completely dominate everyone consistently. And actually, when you reach that point, the game ceases to be fun because there's no challenge. That's how I got burned out on Battlefield 1943 for xbox live arcade... everyone was just terrible, and minute I hopped into the plane I was going 15:0 against idiots that didn't know how to hop into the AA gun. Not that I'm an amazing player, just that Battlefield needs team oriented players and not these idiotic hordes roaming the xbox live matchmaking service.

Ok, when did I ever say that I didn't accept your opinion? I simply stated that you should state it in an appropriate way so no one gets offended. If you can't honor that simple request, you sir are a spoiled brat.
You said that Battlefield was garbage and upon playing the beta, you immediately went back to MW2. If you don't believe me, go back to your previous comment.
Now that sounds like you're saying one is better than the other hmmm?
And if you're saying you prefer MW2 over the BC2 beta, why didn't you say that? You didn't have to sound like a complete retard yelling this game is garbage and I just went back to MW2 after playing. You could have said that you simply preferred MW2 over BC2. Look who's the kid now.

One of the things I really liked about BF2142 was the few EMP weapons. Stunning a tank was just a matter of throwing an EMP grenade at it... then again some tanks in 2142 could hover and strafe, keeping it difficult to expose the weak point in the back.

All it takes in any Battlefield is a single good rocket to the rear exhaust/grill to take out a tank.

" British english?? i think you mean English english! And its about time developers educated the youth of america with the correct spelling of the pretty words that grace your games... rather than inflicting the UK audience with an allergy against U's, and general dumbing down..ness "
I assume you're being sarcastic, because Jeff was obviously being sarcastic, too. UK/British English is its own thing as is American English and one is no more "correct" than the other, except for the region in which you're using it. And really, if UK English is the One True English, I guess the 320,000,000 people in America better start pronouncing things the stereotypical English way, too, eh? You know, we drive cah's and our soda cans are made with al-yoo-mini-yum and we can eat clam chowdah.  Oh wait, already do that. They're called New Englanders. :P "
Ofcourse it was very "tongue-in-cheek" on the whole "dumbing down..ness" - which is why i rolled my eyes at the other kid commenting about my grasp of the english language.  Saying that though, there is no such thing as British english/ American english. It's an american phrase they've suddenly started to attaching to things.. probably in an attempt to make you guys feel more important, and world dominating.. i dunno. At the end of the day though the clues in the title, english!  Adding your own spelling/pronunciation on EXISTING words does not a new language make.  Ofcourse words get adopted from all cultures over time..more so dialect from around europe than America. Sorry. "
That's odd, because every application I've ever used allows one to choose from "UK English" and "US English" and the ISO actually distinguishes between the two. To suggest that Americans simply "change the way things are spelled/said and are wrong" is flat out retarded. It's an unsurprisingly English attitude, though. "

LOL, yes.. and it's ofcourse very shocking to me that an American would be so arrogant as to consider different spelling and pronunciation of an existing language equals a different language.
I also never said you were wrong to be schooled in the "spell it the way you hear it" mentality... just that its not a different language. But don't worry, it's also not surprising that an american has a complex about their intelligence.

Have neither one of you heard of dialects? It's not just English that gets split (UK/US). Have you ever looked at the language select when installing an OS? Multiple languages account for different dialects.

Hell English is a mixture of a ton of different languages to begin with. It pulls from Latin, Spanish, and multiple others. So to act as if one English is superior to another is just stupid.

But I guess I'm just some dumb American and wouldn't understand all this. . .asshole.

maybe just a dumb american who failed to read before he posted?

"Ofcourse words get adopted from all cultures over time..more so dialect from around europe than America. Sorry "   - dialect has already been spoken of.  Languages adopt words all the time.. it doesnt result in their language, be it  french, german, italian, chinese, ect, suddenly not existing...nor does it result in a new language being born. Simply an existing one evolving.

There is no "one english being better than the other" as there is only ONE english language. To speak of "american-english" as it's own language is as foolish as stating canadian-english, or austrailian-english, is a seperate language (though notice niether would be as arrogant to do so).. which it's ofcourse not.  Different regions will ofcourse add there own words, with their own meanings attached to them ..but if texas use a word that newyork doesnt understand, or heard of, they've not suddenly started speaking the new worldly reconised language texian have they?

It's when Americans take existing words and place their own meanings to them that the eye rolling will start. Nobody begrudges different regional "slang".

As a basic rule of thumb, if it's not in the dictionary it doesnt count.

Buddy, I don't know where you come from, but as a basic rule in America, any thing goes. By the way America is spelled with a capital A...

Ok, I just wanted to razz you guys a bit. This American English as another language bull shit is starting to look like you guys are just trolling. The last time I checked the header this was supposed to a comment page regarding the BC2 quick look. The game looks pretty rad by the way. However as it has been point out, BF multiplayer starts to lose its apeal when it becomes everyman for himself. I would like to see maybe an internal clan system with command ranking. That way if a players team rank is determined by how well they fight as a group, it may encourage more team play.

spot on battlefield defiantly needs something like this, i knew something was missing. and i think if you had this kind of play it may make it more interesting. something is defiantly needed in my opinion.  the game does look good tho, im just a bit bored of this kinda game. but then i have been playing css for 4 years.

Love the art style of the game. But it still looks like the Bad Company series has a while to go before matching the greatness of BF2.
