I played Boulder Dash back in the day on a monochrome-monitored PC. Problem was that it ran too fast so you couldn't get away from the monsters.

Also: If Rockford was a dude, why did he explode when hit, Jeff?

'Rockford TM' stands for 'The Machine'. Which is why he's a robot.

This game looks.. yeah.

Wonder if there's going to following what Atari is doing & putting out other remixed games of Commodore 64 games. Remember some interesting C64 games which might be good remade on XBLA/PSN or iPhone avoiding all the C64 junk games & betting that the rights for them to make something new would be cheap.

I really don't like the look of this game.

It's always a shame when they remake one of those games you've been wanting to see be remade for as long as you can remember and then it turns out blah.

The Immigrant Song bit at the beginning was amazing.

I played around with Boulder Dash Construction Kit on the C64 for soooo many hours. So many.

I always thought of Rockford as some sort of ant-like creature.

This game's sound is a complete failure. It doesn't even have the boulderdash theme, which could have saved this game:

Well the game has a retro-mode. Isn't that something?

$10 for this seems a bit steep unless it gets a lot more complicated in the later levels. :/

I clicked on this video before reading the title because that robot looked like Teddy. From Persona.

Pretty sure I've played a Net Yaroze version of this game on the original Playstation. Could never get past the first level.

You should totally do some kind of retro feature on the C64 and the Atari 2600, etc. so gamers like me who only know the NES and on can learn about and potentially start playing these old games. See, I'd never heard of Boulder Dash before.

On topic, this game looks terrible. Really terrible. The textures are crap, the colors are garish. How the fuck they came to publish this game is beyond me.

Before the quest existed, people would at least make an attempt to post a relevant one or two sentences in the first couple comments of the article. Now literally every article/video, the first seven comments are people trying to get the quest/people complaining about how close they were to getting the quest.

Looks like it was made in the LBP2 engine.

Everything old is new and now full of shitty mascots.

The Nethack sokoban levels are better.

The worst part of this whole thing is that Jeff has dug through his windows sounds folder.

Looks like Jeff's right, there's a bunch of old pictures on the Rockford page where he's clearly a dude of the meaty variety.

actually i still got this game called Rockford that is pretty much the same thing... there were 5 different stages with 5 different characters: an archeologist, a cowboy, a cook, a doctor and an astronaut.... now i know it was based on this... go figure (i like rockford better BTW)
  

i'm imagining the character artist who the management had to go up to probably months after the designs were finished and say "heyyyy, so we couldn't get the ik on the legs working correctly so our solution is to ruin your design. can you have those changes to us by friday? thaaaaaanks!"

I think Ryan just blew my mind with that question, why does the camera look like it's overhead but he's moving to the side :D. I never thought about it before :D

Doesn't look any less fun than the original Boulder Dash.
