Jeff gets excited about the weirdest shit

Mostly games with simple graphics and one mechanic that gets old after three minutes.

Or to look at it in a less judgmental, cynical or, or condescending way, one could say that Jeff likes game in which he finds fun, which seems like a good reason to like a video game. Also, nostalgia.

Man, this was a good one. It's also bears mentioning that Nation Red came to Steam before this, and bears a striking similarity.

Well, with a title that is synonyms of Crimson Land, they are making quite clear from where they have their inspiration.

@sinkjaer: It was a shareware game from 2000s. Kind of the first big one of this kind.

EDIT Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

Why does Jeff think this game is great when he poops on EDF all the time. EDF seems kind of like this but 1000x better.

You might also say that Jeff seriously gets excited about the weirdest selection of games.

Cool that they re-released this, but the older version of Crimsonland seems better.

I played an awful lot of this game over the first few years after its release. It might look shitty, and it is pretty mindless, but it's also a lot of fun. At least, I thought so. It was great when you got just the right combination of perks and weapons (at its core, telekinesis and the splitter gun) to be basically invincible and survive well past the point of the screen being entirely covered by enemies.

I used to check on their site every now and then to see if there were any updates about the perpetually-delayed sequel. Even then I think I kind of knew it would never come out.

Crimsonland is the best !!!!

The game is a pure dopamine rush in survival, and once you die you cant wait to get into the action again to try out cooler ways to stack insane perks !
Have been playing the old one on and off since release !

( Nation Red sucks in comparison btw)

A little plain looking. I prefer the Alien Breed brand of top down shooter games (including Alien Shooter, which also was released in 2003, like Crimsonland, and Valve's free Alien Breed clone Alien Swarm from a few years ago), even though they have a number of issues on their own. But having rooms, corridors and stuff like that makes for a bit more interesting levels, even though the original Alien Breed games in particular had some really shitty enemy spawns and not letting you see far enough to be able to avoid taking damage randomly.

A quick look that dragged 20 minutes on too long with very insightful commentary like "I like games that make you put thought in to it". No offense to drew but why does this get quick looked again?

I knew this was coming eventually. Jeff mentioned it before on live shows and stuff (and i would say to myself "Jeff is the best!"). This game is god tier. I've been hopeful for the sequel to this since forever. Why 10tons? Why? Mobile games make money sure but this game is getting a quicklook in 2014! BECAUSE ITS GREAT! ...And I guess because of the steam release. =_=

This makes me want to play Alien Shooter 2 again more than anything. By the time you've completed a level you've repainted the entire area in alien gore.

This seems more like a spiritual remake of Red Lynx's first game, Phobia III, than anything to do with Alien Shooter. Alien Shooter was more of a futuristic spin on Diablo 2 than this.

I think I prefer Nation Red over this. Thats game had crazy perk stacking but maybe this does too although the perks in this QL seemed more low key than Nation Red's. Nation Red also got a recent update oddly.

Game looks really cool. Wishlisted.

And I've seen a lot of comments complaining about Jeff NOT liking a game, but this is the first time I've seen comments complaining that he DOES like a game. That's pretty ridiculous.

@wildali: Ah, yes Phobia III was the game this reminded me of, and I was trying to remember the name. IMO it's a far better game in that it's way more insane/stupid, I mean just look at this, this is the FIRST LEVEL they throw you right in:

Perfect game for Jeff...

One mechanic that's done extremely well and the game involves shooting stuff endlessly...

And I love how Drew was ever diplomatic in suggesting Jeff might want to use the Nukes in a slightly more efficient way ;)

Damn it Jeff! The ORIGINAL CRIMSONLAND HAD CONTROLLER SUPPORT. All you needed to do was set the controls for aiming and movement to “Dual Action Pad." Hearing you endlessly repeat an ignorant and false statement is very annoying.

I think it's an all right game, but everything about it feels slow and sluggish to me. I would consider Alien Shooter a superior alternative.
