Quick Look: Dark Void Demo

Generic game looks generic.

The graphics looked fine but the gameplay was like a mid-generation PS2 game, how are people excited for this? The shooting was outdated and the aerial combat was a mess.

Demo wasn't really all that special. The flying was fun but the enemies were a complete bore to face. On foot is where the game really got tedious to me. Enemies took way too many bullets to die and the guns felt lifeless.

Why is that fat guy dressed like that?  Why do the graphics look like an Xbox 1 game?

Game looks like total crap. With other hit titles coming out so soon, there is no point in people wasting their money on this garbage.

Played the demo today at my mates house....
I was very impressed... The on foot sections felt suitably restrictive and the flying felt great. 
 
Definite rent for now! When I get a console to play it on....

I thought the flying gameplay was great but the game doesn't look pretty.  And I don't think the flying is good enough to justify the $60 price tag.

All I care about is the soundtrack, it's made by the Battlestar composer.

Played the xbox demo....crap..played the p.c.  demo OMFG! even worse! controls are real bad. I had high hopes for this and the delay made me really think they were fine tuning things but oh dear they really have no clue as to how to program a great idea into a playeable and enjoyable game. This is really bad!

Jeff starts this quick look saying (to Ryan) "(the Dark Void Demo came out...) Today, or yesterday, depending on when you're watching this, or... 8 years ago. It just hit 8 years ago, this demo for Dark Void."

Ryan yucks it up but we're seriously on the eve of 8 years since this quick look happened. Good lord. Time keeps ticking and these sorts of statements become reality. I miss Ryan - and the early years of this site.

@handlas: I noticed it a week ago or so when I randomly picked out a GB video to watch. Decided to not watch it then and save it for today, since it was so perfectly close to that date.

Oh 2010, a simpler time:... when Nolan North played every protagonist (and Ryan and Jeff found it extremely funny).

I just watched the demo QL and figured I'd get in on this nonsense as well.

On a side note , I sure miss Ryan. The site is still really good, but It'll never be the same without him.

Dark Void Episode VIII was really divisive between fans and critics. It felt a bit long in the tooth too, but I'm looking forward to what they might do with 9.

Looking forward to Dark Void 9. It's looking much better than 8.

Watching this in 2018 is a real head trip. Everything about this Quick Look makes 2010 seem like eons ago...

Still one of the best game soundtracks ever produced.
