Together, we are all shaking heads at the people who left the site and unsubbed when the news of Vinny's move came, claiming it all would go down from here.

I was one of the people who stayed, but knew we would be lesser for not having Vinny in SF. That brutal SpinTires QL was proof, especially since Vinny played it the next day and had a great time.

So... We get to see this game in Super Baby mode because Jeff assumes we're all too stupid to choose a difficulty other than casual?

Man, these guys are really churning out content when Brad's not there :-). Makes you wonder why they have such a hard time doing content regularly.

@somejerk: My guess is that that's only a small handful of people. I saw more people saying that when CBSi bought GB, and those guys tend to be vocal as fuck about what they think about the site. My guess is that most people who subscribe to this site like the site enought to not unsub the second Vinny leaves for GBNY without even seeing how things turn out.

Anyways, I'm gonna get tired of the "THIS WOULD'VE BEEN BETTER WITH VINNY!!!" comments real soon. Doesn't really add anything to the discussion.

Jeff has said on many occasions that he goes with what the game defaults to, because if the game doesn't care enough to make you play it "the right way" on "the right difficulty", then why should he?

Well, and because the majority of people will play on the default level, so it's also kind of "the default experience" that a reviewer should adhere to to best represent the consumer experience.

Also, holy shit they're churning out Quick Looks this week. I can't keep up.

I like how strangely enthusiastic Jeff has been in QLs as of late. Might be because of Drew's youth and seemingly infinite amount of energy rubbing off on him a little.

That said, it's also a little strange that Rorie hasn't joined in for a single QL across the whole of the Brad-less week.

Gosh, I completely forgot Bodycount existed.

@yummylee: Well, being part of QLs isn't really a part of his job description, so my guess is that he's just busy doing his real job.

@amyggen: He's been running the control board while Drew's with Jeff. He was yelling from the control room in the Spintires QL.

e: Another example of Jeff "Why would I want these baby shooters, I have a PC" Gerstmann using a controller and thus making a shooter unwatchable. Great.

@amyggen: It's not like he hasn't been in QLs before. Besides, I'm sure Drew's formal job description wouldn't entail him starring in QLs, either. They've also mentioned in a previous QL (Spintires I think) that Rorie was in the booth handling the video output; seems strange why he'd be the one in there while Drew's sitting in the QL room all things considered.

@larrydavis: "Unwatchable"? Really? You can literally only watch a shooter like this being played with a mouse and keyboard even if it's on a console too? People are crazy.

@drewbert: In the Stargate movie Kowalski lives. He dies in the second episode of the series though.

Giant Bomb seems to have been involved in some inversed version of the Loudness wars for the past couple of years, lowering the volume a little for every new video.

I bought this for some reason, guess I was bored... It's not particularly great in any meaning of the word, actually kinda the opposite.

Man, what a bland fucking game.

Looks totally competent. Something I could consider picking up for $5-10 on a steam sale or something.

I wouldn't be so generous towards Black as Jeff is though, it has lots of problems beyond the outdated controls and enemy placement, it's pretty much the precursor to the Call of Duty model of single player campaign, incredibly linear corridor shooter, but with stuff falling down behind you, ladders or steps breaking just about every 10 seconds, making it impossible to anything but to constantly move forwards. There are also quite lenghty, unskippable cutscenes before every mission, which play again every time you die, and at times you're expected to go against what the objectives tell you for no apparent reason other than that no further events get triggered until you do.

It's also impossible to jump, vault, swim or go just about anywhere but the highlighted path, with invisible walls all over the place. It got especially ridiculous during a mission where you had to cross a river, which looked like it would be totally possible to cross by swimming, but which was surrounded by invisible walls, instead you had to cross a heavily guarded bridge.

It had great looking particle effects like smoke, fire and stuff like that though, especially for the PS2. Pretty good lighting and depth of field effects too.

It looked fantastic, but it was incredibly tedious to play. Cold Winter, Battlefield 2 and Killzone were released on the PS2 around the same time, and played way better.

As I was sitting here watching this I was waiting for an "I've covered wars, you know!" Glad to see Jeff's still got it.

These press puns are THE BEST.

I now want a FPS where you take mothereffers out by chucking a variety of rocks.

You get your basic starter pebble, then work your way up to buckets full of gravel, then get the limited use boulder for rolling onto mobs.

I call this prospective game "Stone Cold". Watch out for my Kickstarter.
