Dave and Vinny are my favourite Dave and Vinny.

Voice acting was amazing in Jagged Alliance 2. One of my fave games of all time. This looks like crap though.

Glad to see someone still making some kind of games in this genre! Had this mofo pre-ordered for weeks. Just started a five day weekend and hope to get into this game today. Hope this will get me my fix for TBS that I have had for a few years.

It kinda works. The whole game seems to go for this cheesy rubbish A-Team tone.

I've been playing a bunch of this the last few days. It's half awesome and half janky / frustrating. Some of the busy work they expect you to do is quite frankly unbelievable. Unfortunately, it's probably that busy work (which I think is only going to get worse the further in I get) which will eventually see me give up on this game.

It's not turn-based, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. It does scratch approximately the same itch though.

Why do they speak like that? I can't see how any one would ever think it was a good idea.

It's close enough for me. The same way Dragon Age's combat can be paused got me my last turn based fix. I just like being able to stop and plan out how to approach a situation and have a game reward strategy over mindlessly clicking buttons faster then the AI.

I've completed JA2 vanilla three times and twice w. the incredible1.13 mod, but I'm still wary of Back of Action. The AI appears to be down right retarded :(. It'd be tough to resist 'gaming' the system by luring enemies one at a time into kill zones. Still plan on buying it since I've played the entire series thus far.

It's true that it's lacking polish in some areas, but I've been having a good time with it. It's nice to have a new game in this vein. I'd hope the devs will smooth some rough edges as time goes on, and if not, modders probably will. The bottom line for me is that we got a new Jagged Alliance.

My advice in the short term for people driven nuts by "busy work?" Money cheat.

I like seeing Vinny, Dave, and Drew showing off these more obscure games that a lot of people might not otherwise know about.  Keep up the good work guys!

2 of my favourite things : Dave/Vinny quicklooks and Jagged Alliance. JA2 ruled my world for quite some time. Wonderfull game.

Damn it, pants off in the U.K. means so much more than in America.

Hey Dave You can recruit militia to protect your areas by giving weapons to the guys with the purple fist icon over them.

Wonder why Dave didn't try showing any looting system on the pair of dudes shot in the one house or if the game allows it. Curious on if the people they shoot would have anything useful or new weapons on them to make the rest of the mission easier to keep people at their best condition.

Man I love the Vinny/Dave combo but these games are so incredibly boring...

This game seemed pretty good when I played the demo for a short bit, but then I thought about Jagged Alliance 2 and how much better the AI is (reacts to sound much more realistically and civilians actually ran for cover and crouched down) this doesn't seem as great. This video just convinced me to install Jagged Alliance 2 again though, and I would encourage anyone who likes what they see here to get JA2 from GOG.com rather than buy this on Steam. You get a better game for a cheaper price.

Having played a lot of JA2 in my day I can say that Back in Action is simply a different game. The AI is nowhere near JA2 and the lack of Fog of War really removes a lot of tension from the battles. That said, I'm still having a lot of fun with it and have no real beef with the switch to the Pause-and-go system, which I thought originally was going to dumb down everything.

@snide what were you doing with fox on the roof? You can rotate your camera via Alt, seems like most of the time your targeting was difficult because you can't click on certain parts of their body. Also to rotate your character just right click and drag to wherever they should be looking at.

When you had fox "covering" wolf and grunty by standing her behind an opened door without selecting "guard mode" (shield icon), she wouldn't be able to do shit.

Also windows are very important in this game, pay special attention to half opened window blinds, glass on doors etc, they are shootable views to victory. Quick Edit: When you were positioning fox by the windows to get a shot inside, refer to right click and drag technique to get her a good sighting.

Last tip, guard mode in pause screen is able to hint you the cone of your soldiers, you have to select it and wait a few seconds for it to show up to confirm if that position is a good one.

EDIT2: Thanks for doing this quicklook, this is one of those modern releases that no one gives a care about, even though it isn't jagged alliance 2 in 3D, it reps the genre hard.

I can watch just about anything with Dave and Vinny at the helm.

No turn-based = no buy. Something closer to Frozen Synapse, i.e. round-based would have been okay but apparently the game is also just really unpolished from what friends have told me. Might as well just play Jagged Alliance 2 again. They really don't make stuff like this anymore and it's great to see this game come out, but that's not enough to excuse the fact that it just seems sub-par.

Jesus. Fox's voice work man... so bad.
